1) The car manufactures use the data to analyst the characteristic of the consumer which it can help them mapping their target market more accurately. Most of the car in this generation have the "black box" in the car which can record the log vital information such as speed, sudden braking and the position of a car. That kind of information is being stored and, increasingly, being exported from the vehicle to the manufacturer as well.

2) For example of Mercedes Me Connect which is available in all of the Mercedes car. It can collect information to varying degrees. Though it can differ from manufacturer to manufacturer, the manufacturer can collect data such as your credit card information, voice-command information, WiFi data usage and images from the car’s cameras. That information may be used for the company's benefit such as to help them target the advertisement, to provide customer support, and to develop new products and services.

Most car owners think that car manufacturers are collecting data for the benefit of future car improvements, however the skeptics think it may be for marketing purposes.

The majority of the car owners do aware that their data have been collected for the company's purpose but they are unclear on what the data is being use for. On the paper it shows that only 7% of the consumers haver no clue on what OEMS are using the data for.

Most of the consumers believe that the data is use for Product development, improvement (22%) and marketing and advertising at (21%)

In my own opinion, i believe that most of us are still not sure on what the data is being use for. Moreover, different companies are all have their own strategy to apply to the data they collected from their consumer. The company should inform their consumer about the direction of the what the data is being use for, to gain trust from their consumer and also ensure the safety of privacy for the users.
