No one likes homework but do you realize how much homework helps with your education? Lots of studies have shown that homework has improved student performance and connected students to their education. There are so many reasons why homework is so helpful for students mentally and educationally. Students being able to do homework at home helps build responsibility and their understanding of their work.

Tired students often miss what a teacher has to say. Students having to wake up early and come to school can make them too tired to pay attention in class, this could cause them to get bad grades or not hear the teacher say there’s a test. Students need more time to sleep. They should be able to wake up around 7:30 and still have time to do everything they need to. This would also push lunch to a normal time, around 12 so we’re not eating lunch at 10:00am. School should start later so students can get a good night of sleep, wake up and have time to get a nutritional breakfast so they are ready and energized for school.

Do you ever feel like you just don't have enough time after school? Well, with school starting earlier at like 6:00 or 7:00 would allow students to get done earlier and have more time at home to do homework and extracurricular activities. However, students will have to get up a lot earlier which just gives them more time of the day. Although sleep is a key ingredient to mental and physical health, students should just go to sleep earlier. Also starting shcool later would make students not have a lot of time after school and make students get home at 5:00 or 5:30

Do you feel like you never have time for homework? Well if teachers used class time to properly teach their students, they would never have to give homework. Students rarely ever have time to do homework so they have to stay up late. Homework just lowers students' grades and gpa. Teachers shouldn’t give homework to students because they never have time, it will lower their grades, and they will lose sleep.

Everyone knows homework is the most torturous part of school for students. After sitting in class for eight hours, why should students be required to spend another 30 minutes, maybe even several hours, doing more schoolwork at home? Many students also have extracurricular activities after school, leading to little time to balance school, sleep, and personal life. This imbalance can lead to stress, burnout, and a negative mindset. Homework should not be mandatory because it increases stress, disrupts time balance, and causes lack of sleep.

Imagine waking up with a full-nights sleep, awake and ready to go learn at school. The ideal school day would be to wake up well rested and stay awake through all of your classes. However, schools often start too early for students to get a good nights sleep. “Schools shift as evidence mounts that later start times improve teens’ learning and well-being” written by Kirsten Weir is a great resource to read about how school starting early can impact students. The topic in Weir’s article tells how a lack of sleep impacts a students performance, attendance, and even safety.

One of the most common things that students have dreaded at school for decades is when the teachers assign them homework. Throughout the course of history, schools all over the world have assigned homework to their students, hoping that it will make them better people in the future. But the problem with this is that not all students are physically or mentally able to do their homework. Most students have things to do after school, and even if they can do their homework, it takes time out of their already long and tiring day to do it. Homework is not helpful for learning because it adds stress to those who work after school, it doesn’t always line up with what was taught at school that day, and it takes time away from their friends and family.

Don’t you hate doing homework? Well, recent studies have shown that homework might not be necessary for students. These studies show that homework causes students to have high stress levels, and it adds an extra burden to students of poorer households. However, some may argue that homework helps them become more academically successful. Homework is bad for our students and should not be implemented by schools.

Many people know that homework puts lots of stress and pressure on students once the school day is over. Many students report that homework is their primary stressor compared to the other pressures of school. Having too much homework can also take away time that students need to boost their social-emotional development, such as extracurriculars, hobbies, or socializing. While having small amounts of homework can help students connect to the lessons they learned, it can cause students to become stressed or overwhelmed, especially if they don’t understand the material.

Students have gone to school with 2-4 hours of sleep and sometimes less. Did you know that over 30% of high school students come to school with less than 5 hours of sleep on a typical night. Sleep is a key ingredient to having a good day. Many factors are at play in youth getting too little sleep, including heavy homework loads, over scheduled extracurricular, and social media. Studies have shown that later school times correlate with more sleep, better academic performance, and myriad mental and physical health benefits.

Imagine this, It’s the 5th week of school at 6:30 in the morning, you feel drowsy as you wash up and you think to yourself while mindlessly eating your hypothetical milk and cereal, “Say, I’m about to pass out because it’s 6:55 in the morning, but I can’t because the bus will be here in 20 minutes.” You’d almost think you’d get used to this by now. Unfortunately though, it’s only the fifth week and you still feel like you’re going to fall asleep in your 1st period despite sleeping on time. “Schools shift as evidence mounts that later start times improve teens’ learning and well-being.” by Kirsten Weir is a great example as to what would happen if schools simply started at a later time. The article shows us how a later start could help kids better with attendance, grades, and overall well-being.

You want your child to be active in school--not just present. Students lose so much sleep due to long school hours. They’re overall well-being can take a severe toll, and lack of sleep often affects more than just the students. Although school starting early has been an orthodox tradition, it has been proven that later start times could have a better consequence than going to school early. Schools starting later in the morning would be more beneficial for students, teachers, and parents.

Homework is unnecessary. Students have to go to classes everyday learning different subjects. It's selfish for teachers to give homework. In a way it says that you didn't get everything done in class so you left the students to do it on their own. Homework gets in the way of other important things that students have to deal with at home. They make it a priority which should not be the case. Homework should be what the students didn't finish in class, not what teachers assign.

Students from wealthier homes will most likely have a computer, a place to study, and parents that’ll help them with their homework.
