It hasn't. I taught most of these skills when I started teaching, then I kept teaching them after I got flak from administrators for teaching them, and continue to do so now regardless of what Common Core says. And if I'm still teaching when Common Core eventually becomes a dirty word, and it will, I'll keep teaching them then.
