- great importance because it is the reason of the whole process : elevation in society by acquiring manners.

- Manners are also important because they show how respected you can be in society when you manifest good manners.

- Social classes show how the Victorian society was and how high social classes ruled on the lower classes :
Higgings and Pickering were from high society and they judge that they were right to change Eliza.

- It is highlight by:
1; How the Doolittles have elevated in society due to good use of etiquettes, Elisa is considered as a lady and Mr Doolittle has more responsability and visibility in the society.

2; Higgings who is part of the high society is portrayed as someone who has the power of changing someone to his image thus showing that the social rank changes the perspective and the respect you manifest.

3; People are judged on their social rank before being accepted in the society. Manner = who you are

- Shaw wants to denounce the absurd rules of society. (Embassy party: embassadors fooled + Higgins who refuses to act according to high social manners)
-> A person is born in a social class and belongs there (Victorian values), you can't change social classes.
