Men's Olympic Hockey
In this breath-taking game by the men's hockey team, a 2-0 lead soon turned into a dreadful 3-2 comeback in the last ten minutes of the game. This year, it was decided the NHL players were not to play in the Olympics due to cost and risk of injury and so the hockey team has suffered many setbacks. Much like this loss agaisnt a team they had previously beat 5-1 in Sochi during the 2014 Games. Many fans of the sport were hoping for a ragtag team to be their underdogs, like in the 1980 Games. However that was not the case as Team USA lost quickly in only the first preliminary game of the Games.

Towards the end in the third period, the USA received a helpful boost from a controversial slashing call made by the Czech team. This left them with the advantage of 5 on the ice with only 4 Czech. However, even with the lead, the US was not able to clutch a victory. Czech goalkeeper Pavel Francouz was able to shutout all 5 shootout players, resulting in a loss for the United States. Overall the US team was defeated, but the team left proud of their play in the games and thankful for their chance.

This year Korean built a united front, mixing North and South Korean players. Not only has this caused political unrest, but it has also caused sports problems as well. Many of the athletes have also been in unrest. According to viewers of the game, the Korean United team is very divided.

However, now that the games are coming to an end, the final cost has been tallied at $12.9 billion dollars, almost $5 billion more than expected. The biggest factor to this large price increase, economists say, is the $3.7 billion used to build a new express train from Seoul to Pyeongchang. The train is used to transport the athletes from Olympic village in Seoul to the actual arenas.

The cost of insuring six NHL players for three practices, without a signed contract to the team is $1 million dollars. In 2014 for the Olympic games, Canada paid roughly $400,000 to insure Sid Crosby, a player for the Pittsburgh Penguins, for three un-contracted team practices. Without this added cost, hockey teams are able to spend money on other materials for the team.
