I use AI a lot to help me save time, and I have begun to use it with my students. I think it is really important that elementary teachers expose students to AI and help them understand the ethics of AI use so that when they get older, they know how to use it responsibly.

I've had a good response from staff overall, especially upper grades who are interested in SchoolAI. I'm going to do a more detailed dive into SchoolAI next month with upper grades.

All of the staff appreciated how AI can increase efficiency. They were all also able to determine ways that they could use AI in their roles. Most teachers were able to use the examples provided in my PD presentation.

Challenges for Littles

I've run into challenges with lower grades. I find that it is complicated for the littles to get into some of these apps and sites. Teachers don't want to deal with it if it is too complicated for the kids to get into the tools.

The PD I led went great! Many of the teachers at my site were glad to have a choice of the direction of the PD. They chose to learn about grading in Brisk (the other option was an overview of Magic School AI). The feedback from the upper grade teachers was the most positive.

It went well. The technology in the library was a challenge. I couldn't bring up my computer to show the School AI and student responses as an example. But had good conversations with upper grades teachers who were interested in it.

I think the opportunity that I have is to learn more about how to introduce AI to the younger students on our campus (TK-2). Our upper grade teachers were very interested in School AI (interviewing a historical figure), and using Brisk AI to provide feedback on writing, but the youngest kids need more opportunities to learn.
