White Americans may think they are superior than african americans because at one point the african americans would have been their slaves who you go back 300 years and then they don't feel comfortable with mingling with these people because before they were superior to them and they even said that they were destined to be slaves and were biologically inferior. Furthermore, they may think that they are better because they may think that their race is better than the african americans and that they were specially gifted to be like this and that african americans shouldn't be with the rights that they have today. The "white" americans also may feel that if before the african americans were their slaves and had nothing and they were not menat to do anything except be the slaves of the 'white' americans and suddenly they have so many rights and they can do everything and have equal rights to the 'white' americans so they may feel angry because they feel like they are superior and how suddenly have these people who were previously barely allowed to do anything freely, are now doing stuff that we do or even better things and are even taking places of power in running the country. The 'white' americans will also not be happy with the fact that african americans are actually running in places of power which can enforce new laws concerning them but they think that they are superior so they only get angry and then as see with George Floyd, this happens. Basically, to summarize this,'white' americans think they are superior to african americans because they have a right of power and this is their country so the african americans must respect whatever they do.

I think that white americans think that they're superior over african-americans because of their long history of them being 'above' the african-americans. I think that they are suddenly astonished that considering all the history with their relationship, they're just suddenly allowed and stand on the same supposed 'level' as them. If you think about the slave trade, which was centuries ago, the white americans were always the one hiring the slaves - not the slaves themselves. Maybe racism still happened because the white americans are not ready to accept the fact that all races are equal. Also, it is not just slavery, it is also about the fact that it was seen before that the lighter skinned you are, the more beautiful and successful you will be in life. I think that these people are not ready to accept the fact that no matter what race or ethnicity you are, it shouldn't affect the ways you be treated. Whether it be helping someone out or it be a crime. White americans basically think that thery're superior over the african-americans because the U.S is 'their' country and they do not want them to have the freedom to do what they want.

The image shows a picture of George Floyd who was killed by a 'white' police officer and the image is signifying the rights of 'black american' and that white americans do not have any superiority. He was practically choked to death and the writing 'I can breathe now makes me feel pity for him and a bit of distress on why did he kill him when he has no rights and I know that Mr Floyd may have committed a crime but to kill him is just over the limit and I cannot feel anymore for his family and the grief that they must be feeling right now.The image is also stating that black people have the same amount of equality as white people. The black lives matter movement is an international movement that states that black people or African Americans have the same right with everyone and should be treated the same. The protests of the killing of George Floyd showcased the movement and people all around the world are calling for this and that white people have no superiority of black people and that they should not be allowed to commit any sort of atrocity to any other person just because of their race and that black people have equal rights with white people. Another thing is that white people shouldn't be able to get away with crimes that if a black person did then it would be took so severely but if it was a white person they would be some kind of excuse which is definitely not allowed.

The picture shows an illustration of George Floyd. George Floyd was an african american and was killed by a white american policeman. The image is trying to display the equality between the 2 races. He was originally being arrested for buying cigarettes with a fake $20 bill. He went from getting into a police car, to being choked by a policeman on the road. The worst part is that he even told the policeman that he was having difficulty breathing, but the policeman did not lift his knee. This was how he was killed. The Black Lives Matter movement is a huge movement going across the world - but especially the U.S - showing and stating the fact that there is still racism going on in the 21st century against people of a different colour, and it needs to be stopped. This is just one on a string of murders of african american people by the police force. These 'crimes' that those people had commited, if a white american were to do them, they would probably be in and out of the police station within a couple hours. This just shows the inequality between white and african americans - and it needs to change.

In my opinoin, I think white americans think that they are superior than African Americans, because in the 16th century, the white americans would take the africans, and bring them all the way to America as slaves, therefore American Africans feel uncomfortable to be near the white americans. They also said that African people were destined to be slaves, and their race and beliefs were not as good as theirs. The white americans also feel that because they are lighter skinned, they feel they are superior and have more rights than the African Americans. They also do not like the fact of African Americans taking over important roles as they feel they do not have the right to do so and so they may feel angry because they feel like they are higher ranked and suddenly have these people who were barely allowed to do anything, are now doing stuff that they never even dreamt of, and are even taking places of power in running the country.

I believe that racism has continued through to modern day because of the advantage it gave one side over the other. I think it's easier for some people to believe that they are superior; it's harder for these people to feel that they are equal to others that they were taught and grew to hate. I also think that because racism was so prominent during the slave trade and because it was normalised for so long, parents taught it to their children who taught it to theirs and the cycle continued.

They believe because of the African Americans' past they cannot possibly be as superior or of higher class like them. White americans who believe they are superior look to the african americans like they are dirt on new shoes, with a look of disgust on their faces, and think that they are above the african americans and will not treat them as those who share the same colour as themselves

I think it all depends on the scale of the tragedy so if someone didn't obey the law and got away with something like George Zimmerman then people are going to be like why should we obey the law and then the police or national guard will have to hold them back or they are usually peaceful protests when police are not involved and violent protests when police are involved. There are usually peaceful protests when the people are allowed to do the protests without interference but usually when people disagree and clashes take place then violent protests begin. It depends if people are not happy with something then they may go to the streets but if they favor someone or other people are being treated unequally and the people get very angry then violent protests begin because the people are so angry that they forget about law and order and start doing whatever they want as noted on the death of George Floyd because a white police officer has no right to kill anyone and being different racial skins everybody with same racial skin as the deceased will be very angry and go and rebel.Peaceful protests are normally well organised prior to the date and everything usually goes to plan with more people and the police are already informed and let them do it but violent protests are not organised and it suddenly becomes 'every man for your selves' and do whatever you want as there is no place for law and order. These are all my thought regarding these different topics.

White people have always made it appear that they are and always will be more superior than black people. They also might think they are superior because during the slave trade white people forced black people to listen to them and obey their orders. And the black people had nothing else to do but listen. And because the black people listened the white people thought that black people will listen to them and they will be their slaves.

The image shows a picture of George Floyd with the names of other black people who were killed by the police. Some of the names behind him are, Walter Scott, Breonna Taylor and Eric Garner. The 'I can breathe now' written below him is an allegory for the fact that he is free from his pain now and no longer has to suffer. In general, the protests are largely used to mask things like the lootings which sets a bad overall name for the protesters. This goes the same for the police; due to the appaling actions of a minority of them, they have all been labled as racists and terrible people. It makes me feel like most of this is pointless and everyone should just find a way to truce. That's not going to happen, of course but it would be nice it would. The BLM movement, on paper, is a great idea; with protests having worked for similar issues before such as womens rights and the pride movement, it makes sense that people would go to this. However, the two cases I stated predominatly fought with peaceful prostests. The movements were both for huge causes and resulted in changes that would help their cause. If you look at the protests being used for BLM there are many more violent protests when issues of equal degree were resolved with much less fighting. The Black Lives Matter movement is protesting against things like police brutality and racism; it is also protesting for equality between different races.

I think the black lives matter movement (The movement protesting against brutality or racism against black people) is a loss. I think everything about the situation is a loss for both ends. The protests have left many people injured, left worse impressions of police and overall everything is just worse. I would obviously prefer if none of this happened but although i believe protests is a loss, it is still the best case scenario after what happened to George Floyd. Overall the whole situation is just extremely saddening and really makes you not understand just how racist, unreasonable and just plain dumb some people are.

The image shows a picture of George Floyd who was killed by a white police officer and the image signifies that black people do have rights in this world, and that white people should not treat them like trash. The police choked him to death, even though he shouted "I can't breath". This is extremely wrong for the police to do such a thing and so that is why there are so many protests going on. This has not happened once, but there are many cases of police treating black people terribly, and they just get away with it. The Black Lives Matter is an international human rights movement, originating from within the African-American community, which campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards black people.

During the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, the Catholic Church justified capturing people of colour by saying their DNA is inferior, meaning that the blacks were 'destined' to be inferior and that they couldn't change that. Though this was along time ago, this prejudice has been passed along generations till today, where many whites believe that they are the chosen ones. This results in now Afro-americans being paid 35% less, as well as not having the same social facilities, such as educational institutions, as well as medical healthcare centres. It also means that they don't get the same opportunities as others, for example, Barack Obama was the 44th president and also the FIRST AFRO AMERICAN TO BECOME ONE. It shows that we needed to be in the 21ST CENTURY to accept we are all equal. By this we can infer that people of colour are not as politically famous as others. One of the major factors of racism in the modern day world is ignorance and lack of education. Many white Americans are not aware of Afro-Americans' inhumane past. To change this, we will first need to change the American School System and curriculum. Schools should HAVE to teach about the slave trade and how Afro-Americans had a huge positive impact on how America is today.

White people during this time abused black people, beat them, took everything away from them, demoralised them and put them down with derogatory terms. These actions are the root of problem, that is relevant to this matter, White privilege, because of this, many white people believe that they are superior than black people.

Americans think they are superior to African Americans because of race, this thought has its origins back in the past. It all starts in the Atlantic Slave trade, when black Africans were sold to Americans by African leaders, the slaves were taken by force and sold later to American citizens. This created a racist ideology, since all the slaves were black, Americans always would think about slaves if they see a black man.
Later, as Christians ideas of equality, they needed a justification to be allowed to enslave Africans, so they said that Africans are biologically inferior and were destined to be slaves, which is not true, since skin colour is not supposed to affect someone's rights.
This ideology is not as common as before, but it is still existing, and has caused many problems round the world.

Peaceful protests occur when citizens and residents are dissatisfied with a move of the government. People protest because they know they can make a difference by acting together. One thing that makes these peaceful protests violent is the fact that protestors start becoming emotional. By becoming emotional, protestors start forgetting the AIM of the gathering. To raise awareness. Instead, there starts to become a negative impact. For example many lives were lost because of the protest. If the protest stayed with a cause these consequences could have been avoided. Keeping the cause merely means basing what YOU stand for from facts and evidence. A violent protest is normally less beneficial than a peaceful protest. Violent protests normally occur when there is no impact from the peaceful protests.

I believe the slave trade is what caused racism in society. White people are stereotyped to be superior due to the strife and the inequality between the races. Although this was many years ago, it definitely impacted the mentality on-wards, as today people are still aware of the story of the Atlantic slave-trade. It was also mentioned long ago that Africans had DNA that made them 'destined to be slaves', and although there is absolutely no evidence of this, some may still believe it, as of how many Africans were stolen and sold to work as a slave, though they have done nothing wrong. Today, with the influence of many activists, racism still lingers, however it isn't nearly as bad as it was during the Atlantic slave trade. I think that 'Whites', even if they don't mean to, are somewhat aware of how they used to have power and control over the Africans, and how much it has affected them, making it hard for them to look at Africans to be equal. And I think many Africans are aware of how much their kind suffered with slavery many years ago, which makes it hard for them to look at Americans and Europeans to be equal.

Most of the African countries weren't rich so the Americans had taken them to make them into slaves. White Americans used to believe (some still do) that African Americans are dangerous and they have no future and they were brought into this world to be slaves but if you think about why in modern society people are afraid of African Americans it always leads to them saying " Well they scare me because they are always in gangs" but if you go back in history about gangs they were always peaceful and gangs only existed to keep their people safe from the police.

Additionally, I believe that the white Americans believe that they brought the black Americans over and that they should not consider it their home or their homeland and should not have the same equal rights or opportunities despite what the American constitution says about the rights of every American. This statement directly correlates to slavery in Africa and how it effected how they are treated today. Some of the events that happened still show through with how black Americans are treated.

If a protest turns into violence I would leave, you cant assume that every police officer is unequal like Derek Chauvin.

I think that there are people who deliberately go to protests to cause violence. They think that a protest is an opportunity to cause violence which takes the focus off the matter at hand and puts it onto getting revenge. I think that protests are only constructive for any nation if they are calm, organised, and non-violent to put all emphasis on the matter and change people's views for the better. Articulating an issue with intelligent arguments and presenting evidence is more effective than breaking shop windows. For instance, a black American man's shop was set on fire, smashed, and looted to raise awareness for the matter of Floyds death. How does that promote the issue? This is precisely why I think that Violent protests are not effective and also quite frankly very damaging to property and people who are involved.

White Americans have always thought that they were more superior than African Americans. This is because of the slave trade, which happened from that late 15th to the mid 19th century. America needed more people to become servants or settlers to help with their new land, so they looked at Africa. Africa was a poor country in the first place, they didn't have much like the Americans. Back then, White Americans have always seen African Americans as a lower status than themselves, like they deserve the worst. They think that by the colour of their skin that they were destined to be slaves. Today, it has changed but not completely. Some people around the world still think that the White Americans are better than the African Americans, just because of the colour of their skin. Some police around the United States to this day, are still treating African Americans like their nothing and they deserve nothing. So this is why slavery has had a big impact on their ancestors, many didn't/don't have a good education, don't receive as much money as they deserve and don't live as good of a life than White Americans.

The history of racism can always be traced back to slavery. White people began to think themselves superior when they outsmarted African tribes to give them their prisoners from other tribes. They viewed Africans as property and heavily mistreated them. Nowadays slavery might've been abolished but racism is still very apparent with the US. It is harder for a black person to find a job than a white person. A lot of the police are more patient with whites more than with blacks. If a white man had a gun and was threatening to murder someone, it is more likely that a policeman will try to console him. If a black man pulls a wallet out of his pocket it is likely for the police to shoot him without question. A lot of the racism towards black people comes with the image that white Americans have given them. They are no longer given an image that they are less superior like in the times of slavery. Or even in the times of MLK and Rosa Parks where laws where put against them such as the infamous bus seat law. Nowadays they are given an image of violence and criminality. When racists view African Americans, they have an image in their head of a dangerous neighbourhoods where you can die at any second. This is why police are more violent towards blacks. In my opinion racism originated with slavery, but overtime it was transformed into not a feeling of superiority, but a feeling of fear.

I think the reason racism is a thing is because of slavery. Everyone thought Martin Luther King stopped racism but it still happens today which is really bad. I think the reason racism still happens today is because back in the slave trade times all the white people would tell their kids about black people and the stories kept on getting carried through all the generations. Even today some people see themselves more superior just because hundreds of years ago their ancestors were slaves. Some people see black people as threats like police officers have killed a black man for holding a nerf gun in public. A white girl got kidnapped and the government and police spent 13 months looking for her but when a black girl went missing no one cared.

Society itself took so many black lives from living a life where they should be happy and free. I absolutely feel pity for all those who had to face a tragic encounter, just because of their race, skin colour, or gender. Although police are generally figures that serve and protect, I believe they shouldn't go to violent or extreme actions to stop people from fighting for their rights. The Black Lives matter movement is a movement of those trying to and supporting the civil rights of equality.

I would do anything to support what's right, although not to the extent where I would cause damage or create strife with anyone, specifically the police. It's important to be brave and stand up for what you think is right, even if it doesn't necessarily relate to you. Even if you are unable to include yourself physically, you can always support a cause from behind the scenes, either its spreading the word to inspire others to help, or just hoping or praying it all goes right. Currently, the pandemic is still in place and increasing in great amounts. And though the BLM protests are extremely important, I believe we should support it in ways while staying home and letting the world heal first.

It would be white people who would be the sailors and white people who were bidding for the 'slaves'. The sailors would severely neglect the black people and treat them like things and not people. They would mercilessly kill them as well. This slave trade was sort of the foundation for the racial hierarchy. So even to this day some white people believe they are still in power and more important than black people, this may have been the reason for the police officer to ignore Floyd's words.

Ever since the beginning of the 17th century, innocent people were kidnapped from their homes in the continent of Africa and unjustly condemned to servitude. Even though slavery was abolished in the United States in the year 1865, it has unalterably influenced racism today.
During the time of slavery, white-skinned westerners introduced the term 'race' to 'justify' the way they treated people from Africa.
They said that it was legal to enslave African people because they had darker skin and thus they were 'biologically' inferior (even though there is NO evidence AT ALL supporting this statement).
So even after the slave trade was outlawed, it was (and it still IS at times) nearly impossible for black people to attain an equal status in society with white people.

Additionally, the African continent lost most of its population because of the slave trade (most of the slaves taken were men and that of course impacted the population too), and underpopulation inhibits countries' developments and it hinders innovations that help the country prosper and assert itself/make a name for itself in the global society. Furthermore, the African countries also suffered from foreign conquests (Western conquests) since the armies didn't have enough soldiers who would be able to defend their homeland.
And when nearly an entire continent is submerged in poverty, unfortunately - people from other countries will not look up to it, instead, they will look down.

The image Helen posted depicts a chalk drawn mural of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died when a white police officer intentionally suffocated him. So many lives have been lost at the hands of police officers - people who are supposed to PREVENT murder and other crimes from happening and not be the CAUSE of it! Yes, I know that Mr. Floyd commited a few crimes, for which he served a sentence in prison. But to kill an unarmed man for using counterfeit money to buy something as petty as CIGARETTES is taking it WAY beyond the limit of moral standards. Such abominable cruelty should NOT be accepted.
This mural has been created to commemorate George Floyd. From what I know about this man is that he was a good person, despite facing several arrests for theft and drug possession - he was described as a 'gentle giant' by his friends. I can only imagine how hard it must be for his friends and family right now.
It makes my blood run cold to think that people can treat other human beings in such a despicable way.
Mr. Floyd's arrest and death has provoked international 'Black Lives Matter' protests that address racial inequalities that are undeniably still evident in the present day. 'Black Lives Matter' is a global-scale human rights movement. People that join the BLM movement campaign against violence and any form of racial discrimination towards black people - because yes, black lives DO matter. ALL lives matter.

I think the reason white Americans feel superior to African-Americans is because since as far as history traces back, white people in general always had leverage over everyone else because the colour of their skin was lighter. Life has been like that for a very long time and the Slave Trade is just one example of it. Yes, it was never right for people to be treated different because of their skin colour and it still isn't, however, I think it's because of this long history of lighter skinned people having so much power in the world that some of today's white Americans feel like it's necessary or their right to be able to look down on African-Americans.

As you can see on the painting of George Floyd, his shirt quotes, "I can breathe now". This shows the aimed equality of white people and people of colour as a vast reason why the protests started was because even after pleading for help saying, "I can't breath", the officer still wouldn't remove his knee from Floyd's neck.
Personally, I support the movement they have started in America and I think this image and especially the painting is a really good representation of how most people want the world to change.
The Black Lives Matter movement is a movement protesting equality within white people and people of colour. There will be people who think that to be heard properly they must resort to violence or other extreme measures; on the contrary, there will be people who know that they can get their message across without violence. The type of protest just depends on the type of people protesting.

If I cared about something very, very deeply and there was nothing else that I could do to change the way things were by peacefully putting a statement out there (perhaps by contacting a news station to spread the word or by posting something on social media with the help of my parents as I myself do not have any social media account - without putting anyone else and myself in danger, or by publicly speaking in a public space where lots of people that would listen to me were gathered - if the pandemic didn't exist, of course), and by raising public awareness by sharing the message with my friends and family, who would then share it with other people, who would tell their own friends and family members, etc., then yes - of course I would protest for something that is right and something that I believe in, but only peacefully ; I would not engage in any violent protesting that would harm anyone or break any laws that SHOULD have been inaugurated - some laws are unfairly prejudiced against certain people. I believe that brute force during protesting only puts more innocent people in danger - if you act violently (vandalize buildings, commit arson, and hurl yourself at police cars, etc.) it indeed DOES draw attention to yourself but you will not be treated seriously. It is especially dangerous to start riots in times like this, during the Covid-19 pandemic, if people gather together in large groups, the virus will spread at rapid rates. But I believe that people should take action to do anything in their might to make their voices heard, but only if it does not harm others, of course.

For some, it may be that they believe a violent protest is the only way to really get the message across and how serious they are about it. And for others, it may be that peaceful protests are easier to gather more people to start speaking out, also being very effective because it will show that there are so many people coming together for this movement which could possibly make a difference.

Organized marches, SYMBOLIC protests that do not involve any form of violence. Yes, protests will always be a form of disobedience, but these are 'civil' acts of defiance - if people do not disobey those in authority, then they won't make a difference. Through peaceful protesting, we can make a difference, while staying safe ourselves and not putting anyone else in danger.
You can still make an impact without being aggressive and forceful. Some examples of peaceful protests that were effective are: 'The Salt March' led by Mahatma Gandhi, the 1913 'Suffrage Parade', Rosa Park's 'Montgomery Bus Boycott', the 'March on Washington' - Martin Luther King Jr.

But at times peaceful protests are not enough - people still don't listen even if the people protesting are making a valid point. That is when protests turn violent. People become desperate and they feel as if their message will be sent across if they engage in violent protests - more people will be aware of what is going on. While it IS true that violent protests draw more attention than peaceful marches, that does not mean that they are more effective. People protest because they believe that they can make a difference TOGETHER. That is why they SHOULD work together - as entire communities, global communities. But the only way to reach out to so many people is by putting the message forward. Through protests. But not protests that do more harm than they thwart (put a stop to). We need more PEACEFUL protests, but these protests need to be HUGE in order to make a difference. Online interactions about injustice are more than just chatter - they lay the foundations for mass protests that will make an impact. Through the internet, the 'message' that needs to be sent out, will be broadcasted to the world.

Not only that but police men, the people meant to protect you, ending up going against you, going by Trumps will (USA). It's absolutely wrong. Police throw people around and beat up people if they are in the way, most of them not even doing anything. There are some peaceful protest's thankfully but not everywhere. I wouldn't consider the protests violent until the police come, other wise the protest's are loud and clear for everyone to hear and understand.

I believe people of all colours have equal rights. Unfortunately, racism has been prevalent throughout U.S. history with white people often treating black people as inferior. I believe this would have started from the Atlantic Slave Trade were the U.S. captured Africans in exchange for giving the tribes rum, gold and guns. The slaves were considered un-educated and primitive and therefore not treated as humans and more as possessions who have to do hard labour or the owners commands. Any people who bought slaves in that time thought and believed in the idea of blacks being inferior and in their possession. This mind set was around for 300 years passed down each generation of white families owning slaves. It takes some very dedicated individuals and events to change a mind set that has been continued for so long. Since the time of Abraham Lincoln abolishing slavery in America and other important events like Martin Luther King JR. being murdered, legislative changes to the rights of black people and even up to present day events, the long instilled mind set has been slowly changing, hopefully these latest events will lead to true equality of African Americans in America and maybe even global No-Racism.

Protesting can go 2 ways, Peaceful protesting and violent protesting. Peaceful protests are the beginning of all protests but when the other side is not being listened to the protests become violent. People do peaceful protests as a small act of a way of being heard. Sometimes they are effective and can work with no harm being done. When the protest turns violent is either when people want to be heard even more, when a government or a ruler is not listening or is when someone in the protests sparks the anger. There will always be one person in a group that may want to escalate the protests to another level.

After the 500 years, not everyone has developed and accepted the new situation of the world. Everyone is supposed to be equal. In the slave trade, the African Americans worked for the white Americans and had terrible lives. The white Americans enjoyed the so called power over the African Americans and still think it should be that way. The world has moved on and improved whilst some people have not, so they still make a great deal of themselves.

I would only join peaceful and non-violent protests at most. Personally, I do not support violent protests and would definitely not join one. Because all they do is cause unnecessary trouble for everyone, and in the end, the thing that is being protested for hasn't really improved. Especially in this particular protest at this particular time, protests should definitely not be held due to corona. And people in the violent protests are being no different to the thing they are protesting about - violence from the police to black people. I believe there must be other more effective ways to solve our problems, more mature and efficient ways. Peaceful protests are acceptable and obviously it is essential that we let people know how we feel about certain things, and the public should get to know about the truth about things. But it is still not the best option to change things.

People think differently, act differently and their ability to do things are different. Many people believe by protesting violently and showing the government a piece of their mind will help, so they do so. They try their best to fight for the things they think are right. And the time and effort they dedicated into their beliefs are respectable. The peaceful protesters think differently to the other group, they are showing their thoughts and support through another way. Another reason is how much they care for this protest, the violent protesters are obviously more angry about the matter, but this does not mean the peaceful protesters care for it any less. Age and physical ability is also a variable, some people might have the passion for it but not have the physical needs. On the otherside, some people might have the passion but not the courage.

I think this because the Europeans (white people) would forcibly take the black people and treated them horribly. They did this for around 300 years until eventually it was stopped.

I think that white Americans think that they’re superior to African Americans because for so many years it’s been like this. Particularly for the slave trade (which occurred from the late 15th to the mid 19th century), many caucasians looked to Africa for labouring purposes, though they viewed them as criminals, debtors or prisoners of war from rival tribes (and let me guess: savages). They were treated WAY differently than the whites, not respecting or even thinking of human decency for them. The fact that they forcibly took more than 10 million Africans overseas is enough to dramatically change the economy for Africa, the future for them and it’s relationship with the whites as they thought they were superior from them just because of the colour of their skin

To note: I am not saying that EVERY white person is racist, but sadly, there are still some that are

The image makes me feel hopeful for the future, wishing that all (or at least most) racism and police brutality has stopped. Though I do feel saddened that the artist has to do this in the first place, after countless years of discrimination and prejudice on black people, this still is happening (especially after reading the text, which just makes makes me even more mournful). The black lives matter movement is an international human rights movement, originating from the African-American community, which campaigns against violence and systematic racism towards black people.

I think that ever since slavery started most white people thought that they were superior to black people and that the slaves were destined to be the less superior ones. Up to this day some people still think that they are superior to black people. Every single person should be treated the same no matter what colour or gender they are. Slavery dosen't really exist any more but racism does and racism is equally as bad as slavery.

White Americans thought they were more superior to the African Americans because of what it said in the bible, where the black person was less a value compared to a white person. Also, for 500 years the slave trade was big and popular all around america, so white people where buying as many as they can and forcing them to do there own work, and making them live terrible lives.

The picture painted on the wall is 46 year old George Floyd, the man that was murdered by the policeman after paying for some things with a fake 20 dollar bill. The officer restraining him had his knee on his neck, cutting off circulation. In all of it George Floyd is heard begging that he cant breath, but was ignored and then died. After the incident many protests started. It started at the town of where he died, but after the injustice and how long it took for the policeman that murdered him to get charge, many protests (Violent / non violent) sparked up in anger. The BLM is a movement that demands and gives justice and awareness for wrongfully treated black people. To help people that suffered from police brutality and racism, the BLM will spark up and help the person, making it a great movement.

There are also people willing to be violent to those that wronged them to I believe 'threaten' a change. Those people create violent protests. In the end, both are fighting for change. In the instance with George Floyd, I understand how people have used violence out of anger towards all who wronged society. Which I believe is for justice of those who suffered due to inequality in society. i also understand how some want to support a change peacefully, as consequences can occur, like being arrested for example.

Originally the black people in america were slaves, they were taken from their home countries, enslaved against their will, they had no rights and they were bought, they were owned, by the rich white people. To physically own another person is a horrible thing, it's wrong, to use someone for what you want. It's not right. The connections to George Floyd are that although the slaves were freed, some people didn't accept them into society and still looked at them differently. They still had the bad job, they were the poorest people, with the worst houses. The point is even after all of the slavery was over they weren't accepted into society and in many places in america they still aren't.

I think that there are peaceful and violent protests because people have different opinions on how they want their voice heard. Both ways do spread awareness, however one causes more damage than the other. Peaceful protests are usually much more calm, like a march in a park or something like that. Violent protests are much more dangerous. During these protests, there's usually looting, or burning buildings. This showcases the protesters anger about the topic that they are raising awareness about. I think that the only reason violent protests exist is because they tried a peaceful one, but they felt as though their voice was not being heard.

Since the beginning of slavery africans were seen as dangerous people, from the americans perspective, who needed to be under control. If they weren't then it would be the downfall for america. They used africans, they killed africans, but they fought back even if they didn't always win. Nowadays since africans are in still in america they are still seen as a danger and slaves just like their ancestors. Sometimes people choose to cling onto things from the past instead of moving on from it and seeing how people have changed which is why I think americans don't see africans as equal to them.

Racism is raleted to slavery beause a long time ago white people claimed that black people were biologically inferior to them, so they took them in as slaves. And even after slavery was abolished, white people still looked down on black people. Although it's still happening nowadays, it's much less brutal than it was back then, but there are still some signs of racism, like what happened to George Floyd. Everyone's lives matter, regardless of their race or gender.

Not all Americans are racist but the ones which are still think that African Americans or any people with colour are objects and not humans becasue they are still stuck in history. During the slave tried all the owners Americans were constantly telling the Africans that they are worth nothing and there colour is worth nothing. Portests usually begin peaceful and people try to heard peacefully but when they are being ignored or they are not being heard at all they start becoming violent to try and convey there point or to get the government to change some rules. Violent protests can become very harmful and dangerous so if people listened to the peaceful ones then nothing violent protests would occur but sadly that is not alwyas the case.

Most of the time when there's a powerful movement fighting for a major change in their country, there are going to be protests that are peaceful and protests that are violent. The main protests are peaceful because they are protesting for peace and the good of their people. There are two reasons for violent protests, people who are too passionate and forget what they're fighting for, and people who use the protests as an excuse to cause havoc. For example, in America there are people who are looting small stores 'in the name of George Floyd'. These people are taking a noble movement and twisting it into something more sinister. But not all major protests are like this. In the end of 2018 to mid 2019 there were protests in Sudan fighting the corruption of their government. All of the violence in these protests came from the government itself. After six months of peaceful protesting they were able to succeed in their goal. Some people say that violent protests are necessary to make the people's voice heard. Judging from my example that is not true at all. People just need patience and perseverance.

There are peaceful protests because people want to make a point and want what they have to say to be heard, but protests turn violent when people protesting feel they are not being taken seriously and they think being violent will make people notice them and listen to them.

This image shows a man named George Floyd, who was killed by a racist police officer named Derek Chauvin. This is a tribute to George Floyd of how he is free from this cruel world as it says " I can breathe now" as he was on the floor before he died saying " I can't breathe." This makes me feel ashamed of how cruel and mean humans can be sometimes and I'm not saying all of them but some. I can't imagine even taking a video of this and seeing it with my own bare eyes, I feel honestly so sad and angry of how and why he died, because he didn't deserve it at all. The Black Lives Matter Movement is a campaign to bring justice among the African Americans and too stop racism and violence against them. If people would have treated a little bit more equally from the start this would have never happened. Many people think that they're bad people but if they had a good education and a good life from the start, people won't think that and maybe treat them more equally. It doesn't matter what's the colour of your skin, everyone should be treated equally.

If I strongly believed and supported something I truly think is right then I will go and protest. I think protesting will really make people hear what you want to say but if I would chose to protest I would chose to protest peacefully instead of violently because I think if I protested something violently it will cause people to get hurt and I don't want that I just want people to hear what I want to say and make a change if possible.

I think that there are peaceful protests because people don't want to cause damage but make a change and they do so by making people hear what they want to say by protesting. There are also violent protests because for example black people have been protesting peacefully for years and years and yet people wouldn't listen and try to make a change in people's actions. They think by protesting violently will make people hear them and actually do something about it so that people will stop causing damage. I agree that black people deserve to protest however they want if they have a very good reason to.
