Overall, Mama is a great person. Mama knows a lot and she tries to share that with her children and with Ruth. She always tries to help her kids and lead them on the right path, even when they're in a bad situation. I sympathize with Mama, because she reminds me of my Mom and is always trying to do stuff to better her family.

In my view this painting of a nun relates to Mama because she is extremely wise and she preaches to God continuously throughout novel. Mama is very intelligent, she always knows when to say the right thing. In addition, she learns from her experiences and mistakes to make her better as a person.

I think that Mama is a generous person. I believe that she is a generous person because on page 57, the text says, "Benetha - 'Well why do you give so much money to the church for the missionary work?'" Mama - 'Well that's to save people'" It takes a very giving and generous person to give up money. Especially nowadays when people are greedy. Most people get money and forget their morals and values.

In my opinion, I think that Mama is wise. I think this because on page 56, Mama says, "Now i ain't saying what I think, but I ain't never been wrong bout a woman neither." This quote shows that Mama is wise because she predicted that Ruth was pregnant before Ruth told anyone anything.

I believe that, this poem relates to Mama. Mama lives in a time period where white and colored people don't get along. The beginning of the poem discusses how people can hurt you, do anything to you, but they cannot destroy you. This makes me think of Mama because she is a strong woman who is willing to fight and stand up for what she believes in.

These lyrics relate to Mama, because she's a very strong woman who is trying her hardest to better herself for her family. Shes 60 years old and she goes out to work everyday. I can connect Mama to the lyrics, because Neil Young states, "You got the weight on your shoulders, that's breaking your back" She works everyday from morning to night.

Post 8 - Theme of the novel

In my point of view, I think that the theme of "A Raisin In The Sun" by Lorraine Hansberry is not to give up on your dreams. Lorraine states, on page 109 of the PDF, "You wouldn’t understand yet, son, but your daddy’s gonna make a transaction ... a business transaction that’s going to change our lives. That’s how come one day when you ’bout seventeen years old I’ll come home and I’ll be pretty tired, you know what I mean, after a day
of conferences and secretaries getting things wrong the
way they do..." This is the conversation that Walter has with Travis, after Mama gives Walter the rest of the money from her husband passing away. Walter doesn't give up on his dream of buying a liquor store. He keeps trying to better himself and his family to try and do the best he can for them.
