Sardar Patel is also known as Indian statesman and founding father. He was born on 31st October 1875 in a small village of Gujarat. He was one of the main leaders in the movement of freedom against British rule. due to his commendable work in the whole movement, he became the important member of Congress. One of the most inspirational incident was the " Bardoli satyagraha", in which he organised a movement of non-violent civil disobedience against British rule and that movement gave him a title of "SARDAR". After getting independence, Sardar announced as the first home minister of India and deputy prime minister. In the memory of ' Sardar Patel' and to give him tribute for his exceptional work for a motherland, the current Indian government has built a statue of him. The name of the statue is " statue of unity". This statue is the world's tallest statue with the hight of 182 meters (597 ft) located at the district of Narmada, Gujarat, India. Also, the main attraction of this is that it has been built on the river island facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the river Narmada. The cost of making this statue was around US$ 112 million. Moreover, Sardar Sarovar Dam has their domestic and cultural importance, too. By the Narmada river and the Dam, the statue of unity could not get more space. The dam is built in beautiful area. Of note is that Sadhu-Bet Island is not currently an island; it was an island prior to the construction of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, upstream some 3.5 km from the site of the Statue, and it will be returned to its island state via the construction of a downstream weir that will serve to aid in the control of the flow of the river and provide the 6 m rise in the waters of the river to submerge enough of the river bed to make the island a true island once again.
