This performance assessment is one that will be used at the end of our unit on tally charts, picture graphs, and bar graphs to assess students understanding of the concepts. Students will be asked to create a graph notebook, demonstrating their understanding of the graphs that we have been learning about in class. Prior to this assessment, students will have had: lessons on the topic, modeling of the concept, exercises using graphs, and independent/group work using graphs. During the performance assessment, students will be asked to show their knowledge by doing the following:
1. describing the 3 different graphs
2. creating a guiding question and answer choices for the graphs
3. showing the data they collected
4. analyzing the data they collected
Students will also have an opportunity to self-assess using "I CAN" statements, using the same verbiage that they are use to in math. Students will also be asked to complete a self-reflection at the end using a glow and grow sentence starter. This is a self-reflection tool that the students use commonly in our district.
