I've been able to enjoy a cup of coffee in an actual mug, unlike at school in a travel mug. I can sleep in a little bit more, and I have some more time with Lucy (she is always at my side, what a good dog!) and Cece. I will also miss being able to have lunch outside so often or to work in my garden during breaks. Both have been so nice and a great way to relax during the day.

We all are usually together for Christmas morning, but this year we each did it in our own homes and did a portal (like a zoom) that morning so we could see each other and share presents and laughter. While we weren't in person, it was really fun to still be together in this different way. <3

I am completely surprised by how much more I learned about technology and how easily we were able to adapt lessons to do things online! The day also moves so quickly, it feels just like in person school in that way. I've also loved being able to get to know students from other Wellesley elementary schools and work with different teachers than at my home school. Lots of wonderful things came with remote school and these are just a few of them.

I am really proud of our literary essay work and book clubs. I love that we used pixar and other short animated films to analyze and share observations with for literary essay. In book clubs, it was amazing seeing how easily students were able to adapt, show similar skill sets and be so prepared. The conversations were fantastic!

I am sure that because of everything with Covid precautions, students were not able to work together as much this year and I am really proud of how well we've been able to do that in remote school.

More stretch breaks and chat breaks in school, as long as we are able to get back to work! That really seemed to help us refocus when we needed it. :)

The year went by so fast and we have new people to be friends with and I got to see people that were at my school and moved to others also we even got to vote for a new mascot and design it to if they liked it

I really liked the breaks and using Google Classroom/docs/slides it really helped having the internet and surprisingly autocorrect. I also wish I could stay in touch with everyone next year but I’ll see them in middle school eventually.

I don’t think I would have been able to do as much online research. I’m really getting better at using epic and zoom. Even the remote learning part of last year wasn’t as much because school was only 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. Although I’m glad to be able to read physical books, I was really starting to miss them.

Yes, in summer back in China, on the weekend, my mom, dad and I usually went to the swimming pool every weekend, but when I came to America, the corona virus started and I got sick, so we couldn’t go to the pool anymore because of the virus. Also, mostly on weekends, I would go to a park or someplace else with my friend Angela or my cousins, but when I came here and the virus started, I can’t go back to China or meet my friends there, and I really miss them. (I haven’t seen them for more than a year…)

I had really low expectations for the MCAS and thought it would be so stressful and hard but it wasn’t actually that bad. I didn’t know I would enjoy it so much. I really liked the newspaper, my passion project/informational topic, and the writing units this year!

In the lunch break, it changed a lot. Because when I was on lunch break for in person school we usually had recess and recess was really boring to me because no one wanted to play with me so I felt really lonely. But in virtual lunch break I can just enjoy my lunch, without any recess.

I would like to continue the Friday Clubs, because I feel like it brings a lot of fun to you at the end of the week before the weekend started, and I also like to continue the chat and connect on the start of the day to make everyone feel calm about school every day.

I had a lot of relatives I couldn’t see this year which felt weird because a few I was really used to seeing almost all of my extended family. It was harder because we couldn’t go on an airplane and I didn’t have any grandparents any more but I still got to see my cousins who live in Boston. (It wasn’t really the same with masks on but it was still fun!)

Well the lunch break changed a lot. For the better! At my home school in 3rd grade lunch was only 10 minutes! It feels so good to have an hour of lunch especially because I’m a super slow eater. I have to practice eater faster for next year, though. Also there were more breaks so I started going outside a lot. The irony is that COVID-19 MADE me go outside for school breaks 😂

Something that had surprised me about remote learning school is that at first, l was worried if there might be a lot of technical problems, and hard to make friends when everyone was on an iPad, but I noticed that this year had past so fast and smoothly.

I have enjoyed clubs because in regular in person school we don’t have it and we always had recess too times a day and it happened normally and it wasn’t really special because it hoped all the time and in Friday clubs it is special because it doesn’t happen normally or all the time and it seems really special
