I did the splits!

We were then joined by the new extended level 3’s (old level 3’s)

We continued to do many ice breakers, so we could learn about each other

These activities took longer than we thought

We moved on to our personal development lesson, learning about relationships

During this session we have spoken about Healthy relationships, in this session we have learnt about different types of abuse. We also discussed in groups what makes a healthy and unhealthy relationships. 

We regrouped after lunch in the theatre and did a read through of our scripts in our groups

We were then interrupted by Sophie (our teacher) and asked to perform the dances we learnt in level 2

This task was mildly difficult as I forgot some of the choreography but remembered most of it, but it was a fun activity to end the day

Circle time, talked about how much we think we’ve completed in our theory and practical work

Spilt off into our groups to work on our projects

Some in the theatre, dance studio, and a classroom

American idiot’s (my group) were doing a run through in the theatre, got to the song and were interrupted by Ryan, who offered to put the song on the speakers. Ryan then gave us some feedback back about our performance, suggesting that we shout the lyrics to the song to add more emotion. We attempted to do this and failed, then Ryan continued to replayed the song multiple times encouraging (shouting at) us to be louder. The first words of the song is a solo for Johnny played by Jacob and Jacob personally found this very difficult and was obviously struggling. Ryan did not seem to care in this moment of time what our thoughts and feelings were about his feedback and continued to push us. He then just played the song, on what felt like full volume on the speakers and told us to shout the lyrics over the song. He then gave up as we all just stopped singing/ trying to shout and he left the room, Jacob then bursted into tears as he felt very much out of his comfort zone and was given no acknowledgment by Ryan. I understand that American idiot as a whole sends a very important message to its audience through chaos, as Ryan suggests that we add. So I understood why Ryan was giving us this piece of advice but I feel that he could have done it in a better way as the way that he did it was wrong and quickly frustrated the group.
