Those in the Pacific Northwest survived by using natural resources, as a result the Pacific Northwest had one of the highest populations of Native Americans in North America. Differences: Eastern Woodlands: The Eastern Woodlands houses were made of straw. The Eastern Woodlands are thinly wooded, has a mild climate and a long growing season which is good for farming.

One main difference is that the people in the great plains lived in teepees and the people in the southwest lived in dome shaped homes called hogans. The hogans homes were made out of sticks and put together by mud and sod. The Teepees were cone shaped and held up by sticks and covered with animal skin. The teepees were portable and made it easier to take places.The hogans were placed so that it could catch the suns rays.

In the 1700s the Native Americans found horses.Then they could hunt and trade more easily, the natives made their teepees out of sticks and and animal hides. A land bridge was formed by glaciers the effect was, the Native Americans followed what they were hunting across the land bridge. As the Ice age ended the Earth's climate warmed, the effect was most of the animals couldn't survive from the warmer weather. The animals died from the warm weather, the effect was the Native Americans couldn't find food, so they had to grow their own.

     Creek celebrated the "Green Corn Festival" in honor of the first maize crop. They also played  lacrosse to settle arguments.
 The Creek decorated their pots with wooden stamps.

Another tribe in the southwest are the Navajo or Dine, thousands of years ago they were hunter gathers in parts of present day Alaska and Canada. They began to migrate or move to one place or another. By the 1400 they had migrated to Northern new Mexico. In order to survive, the Navajo used many of the ideas and practices of their pueblo neighbors. Both Navajo and the pueblo are known for their silver and turquoise jewelry. Today they are the largest non pueblo people in the southwest.
