My biggest take away from reviewing the resources on burnout, compassion fatigue, and trauma is that these are huge issues in my current field. I now know that these issues exist and are something to be aware of. Coming into this profession, I never considered that hearing about others' trauma could lead to trauma of my own.

Two strategies I plan on using to ensure I am practicing self-care are setting boundaries and prioritizing meaningful moments. I believe both of these strategies can go hand and hand. I want to make sure that I am finishing my work on the weekdays and not allowing it to bleed into my weekends. In doing this, I will have more quality time to spend with my family without the stresses of work.

My plan for self-care is spending time with my family. I enjoy going on walks and baking with my two year old. We also enjoy listening to music and painting together. Some things I do at work to practice self-care, is listening to relaxing music and going for walks after tough sessions with students. I also enjoy reading during my breaks. This is crucial for taking my mind off of work for short amounts of time.
