Among his recent accomplishments, Dr. Erick Guerrero has been awarded five grants as a principal investigator in the past couple of years. Funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the grants totaled more than $8 million. He has since submitted grant applications to the NIH, CDC, PCORI and RWJF with the goal of improving responses to protect highly-impacted minority communities from the COVID-19 pandemic. Erick Guerrero, PhD, holds distinction as one of the few Mexican-American researchers to receive NIH funding on a regular basis.
