To successfully use this technique it is important to prioritize the urgent needs first and to work your way through to the non-urgent. Throughout the process once completing one activity at a time it is recommended to cross out as you go. It provides an image to you that you are going through your set tasks.

Eliminate Distractions

When working on important tasks or goals, it is helpful to eliminate things that may distract you from accomplishing those tasks/goals on time. For example- I set aside 3 hour blocks of study time each night where i focus on my coursework. Before starting my studies I put my son to bed, turn my phone on silent and put it away, and I sit at the table away from the tv so I am not distracted by the noise. This all helps me to keep focused and get my work done so that my study load doesn't start piling up!

I use a creative to do list with clear points of what I have to achieve in a day. I start with the most important and work down to the least important stuff. This helps to keep me on track and enables me to accomplish everything without forgetting anything.

Prioritising

I use a simple 'to do' list. I create my list based on importance and urgency. I keep my list basic because the list can change throughout the day and I need to be able to reshuffle or introduce new goals to my list accordingly. I spend the first part of my day completing tasks from the prior day to warm my brain.
