Now you probably wondering how any English class would help you in general. Well for me I can properly write scholarly essays, while using correct formatting, grammar, and research. Group discussions and peer reviews gave me a skill on how to look at others perspective and correct them the proper way if they were incorrect and even take advice from my peers. English classes have also made my vocabulary superior, I have use more scholarly words in my basic life in general, since taking a college level class.
