Usually referred to as the " Nazi games," the Olympics main use was for Nazi propaganda purposes. As well as Hitlers plans to promote the "Aryan Race." It was the first Olympics to be widely broadcasted on radio in over 28 languages, as well as the first Olympics and sporting event to be televised. Their was an attempted boycott and massive backlash because of the anti-Jewish propaganda surrounding the games. This irritated Hitler since Owens didn’t match his Aryan supremacy, Hitler reportedly stormed out of the stadium after he won the 100-meter dash. In 1940, He was unable to compete in the Olympics, due to the start of the war, he instead was enlisted into the Army Air Corps. During the war his plane crashed, he and his crew spent 47 days lost at sea before being captured by the Japanese.
