      <description>Retired from active duty in the United States Army, Thomas Mengesha is an experienced mental health counselor who maintains membership in the American Counseling Association. As an aspiring Clinical Health Neuroscience Counselor, Thomas Mengesha will have extensive knowledge in areas including PTSD treatment and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. Thomas Mengesha has also worked on mental health issues within the Black community.

Achieving the rank of Captain, Mr. Mengesha served in the Middle East across two tours of duty with the Army. From 2012 to 2018, he was a Privacy Officer with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and worked to ensure that facilities maintained compliance when it came to VA Directives and Federal Privacy laws. He presently holds responsibilities with the Department&#39;s primary Casualty Assistance Coordinator located in Michigan, a role in which he is tasked with contacting and supporting the next of kin of deceased service members. His consistent work on Veterans issues earned him a 2015 Federal Employee of the Year award.

Mr. Mengesha has a passion for Bible Study and is also an author who has written a book and articles that explore various aspects of the U.S. military deployment process. In his free time, Thomas Mengesha enjoys watching science fiction movies and exploring natural areas by bicycle.</description>
