I remember it was the 7th grade and we were watching a movie for immigration day. Before we were sent home, it was announced that we would have 3 weeks off due to the new virus known as COVID-19. 
Uproar arised, and everyone was super excited. So at first, I was excited, happy, curious, but most of all I was care-free. Everyone left super excited, talking about hanging out, playing video games together, girls planning sleepovers, everyone was ready for the break. Personally, I believe people were underreacting, because no one seemed to care about the virus that caused this 3 week break. No one really knew how bad it was, so we all were just excited, and made the best of our 3 weeks to enjoy ourselves. Honestly, I feel as if people genuinely forgot why we even had the break, no one seemed to care. Obviously, we were later informed that we wouldn’t return to school for the rest of the year. Some of us felt disappointed, I personally was ecstatic, but also a little nervous. I wondered, how bad is this new virus that we have to stay online for the rest of the year?

For me, I had a fully online school. The days were split so some days we were just assigned work via planbook, and other days we had to login to meetings, that were like 15 minutes. Life was good, no one wore masks, all I did was play video games with my friends, even during class sometimes to be honest. School was easy, I did amazing while barely trying, and everything was good, no drama, no boredom, no fear for the future. My family was happy, we always were together in the house and hung out together even more frequently. The nation had no panic, there were occasional updates concerning the pandemic, but none of them aroused any fear for any fear or concern. They were small, and irrelevant at the time. The world was in peace, balance, it was stable. Well mostly, some parts like China were in partial panic due to the events that took place with covid. Now, life for me is stressful. I wake up just to go to school every morning, not really that interested in what I’m learning. I don’t talk to anyone during school, I don’t play any games, I just wake up and stare at a screen for 8 hours a day. And after, I just do homework and study until I can’t handle it anymore. My family has been really happy with the pandemic, actually. My mom is always around my dad, which works well because they’re business partners. My mom has a whole office with a nice bed for my dog, and he spends the whole day with her. My brother gets out of school at 12 everyday, and he just plays games and relaxes. The nation is doing well, everyone seems okay with the pandemic, and the rates of people with covid is decreasing. Not only that but there is now a vaccine for everyone 16 and older. The world is in the same boat, everything is getting slowly better. Gradually, we will return to normal, except, a new normal.

For instance, I’m stuck inside most of the time, I barely go outside. I’m usually bored waiting for school to end, studying and doing homework, or sleeping. I’ve lost touch with pretty much all my friends and I kind of just do my own thing. I’m way less happy than I was last year, I kind of just wake up and do what I’m asked, I just do what I need to do to get by, waiting for the day to pass. Additionally, I play video games a lot less than I used to. I don’t really stay active anymore. I used to go outside and play basketball a lot. Now I play maybe once a week If I’m lucky. Some benefits though are that I hangout with my family a lot more now. I’ve grown closer to my brother, and we watch shows together sometimes. Also, I get to see my dog all the time now, and I can get snacks or food during class, which is definitely something I enjoy.   • It’s been hard. During the beginning of the pandemic, it was scary and it was very isolating. 
  • Quarantine sucked and I dealt with a lot, got kicked out of my dorm without any notice, said goodbye to my friends for a year, got broken up with, was very depressed. 
  • The vaccine rollout, we need to make more people get it or full immunity will not happen.

    - To a certain extent, I think quarantine is better due to more time with family and such, but it is a little distracting with so many people in the house needing my attention and pulling me in different directions.
