Fire is an important symbol in the book Fahrenheit 451 because the antagonist's job (Montag) is to start fires. Fire plays important role in the society, it can be presented to represent death and knowledge. Fire can represent change in Montag, such as from using fire to burn knowledge to using fire to help him find knowledge. Montag's relationship with fire is important because as a fireman, he has to use fire to burn books and houses which leads him to speculate why books are burned.
