Erika brought up a good point about students that are colour blind. Here is an article with ideas to help people that are colour blind. You will see from the article that most of the problems are between certain colours or in some cases not seeing colour at all. This means that if you avoid certain colour combinations and make sure that there are strong contrasts between letters and the background ( not as strong as black and white though) then we should be ok:

Here is the PDF of slides from the session, as well as the editable PowerPoint presentation that you can use to reveal pictures behind numbers. To edit it: 1. Slide one of the pictures away, 2. right click the picture underneath, 3. click 'change picture', 4. drag the picture on top back over the background picture. To use it in class with the students: 1. click 'slide show' mode, 2. click on the number you want to make disappear. Note: If you click on the background picture, it will remove all of the numbers to reveal the picture to the students. Hope this is useful!
