Born on July 17, 1921 in Budapest, Hungary, Hannah Sanesh was the daughter of an author and journalist, due to that, Sanesh showed great literary skills and kept a diary with her since 13 years of age until she died. Her family was assimilated, but anti-Semitic sentiment in Budapest was the reason of Sanesh's involvement in Zionist activities, which then led her to move to Eretz Yisreal in 1939 where she continued to write poetry.
