Four Levels of Reading
1. Reading Aloud- teacher provides fun supports, students focus on pictures, join in with he reading but do not focus on the words
2. Shared Reading- Teacher provides high level of supports, a lot of conversation about the story and some group problem solving, readers support each other
3.  Guided Reading- some teacher support, readers mostly independently problem solve.
4. Independent Reading- little to no teacher supports, reader independently solves problems while reading

Four Writing Levels-
1. shared writing- teacher full supports, teacher is the scribe and guides children with their ideas
2. Interactive- high level of support, read many times, teacher composes the written with help from the students
3. Guided- some support, teacher conferences with each child
