Texture, simplicity and androgyny are characteristics I kept in mind when creating my ring as I believe they are key elements of my own style. When creating the woven wax prototype of my ring, the wax was easier to manipulate in larger strips, resulting in the thickness of the ring. This thickness was something that appealed to me as it created the sense of androgyny I was looking for. In actually weaving the wax rather than creating a ring band to then paint on a woven pattern, the ring holds an element of tactility. I also made the conscious decision to leave my ring as is, without cleaning it up after pick up, as the rough edges again add a layer of texture. I, too, did not apply any paints or extra decorative add-ons as to preserve the rings simplicity.
