Parents do that for different reasons that a daughter has  nothing to do with it: first, she's belong to lower income family where they can't take care of her anymore so that marriage is the answer for them. Second, the misconception they've been raising on for years that girls supposed to be at home only. This one came from their parents' life as well, her mother forced to drop school at the age of her daughter for the same reason. When she growed up, she found herself infront of responsibilities that neither her nor the father ready to reslove the disaster. This is how have been applying from one generation into another.
