How to Get Tickets.

Broadway show tickets can be really expensive ($$$$). If you want to see more than one or if you're on a budget ($), you can get same day tickets at a TKTS booth (Learn all about it here: https://www.tdf.org/nyc/7/TKTS).

The main TKTS booth is right in Times Square, right next to some of the most popular shows currently running. You might even want to download the app so you can always see what is available in real time (You can download the app here: https://www.tdf.org/nyc/20/TKTS-Mobile-App).

For the early risers and gamblers among us, you can also get cheap rush tickets if you go to the theater and wait in line (usually early in the morning) and buy tickets that haven't been sold yet for a show time later that same day. Often rush tickets are sold at a substantial discount to regular priced tickets. Each person in line is permitted to buy 2 tickets. The number of tickets available on any given day may change and when they are all purchased then whoever is left in the line goes home without a ticket.

You can also enter lotteries for some shows to try and win tickets for you and a friend, although not all shows have a lottery. Some lotteries are online while others you have to go to the theatre in person. You can find out details for all of the current shows playing here: http://www.playbill.com/article/broadway-rush-lottery-and-standing-room-only-policies-com-116003
There are different rules for every lottery so read the fine print carefully!

Now, if price isn't a concern for you then you can simply get tickets ahead of time by visiting each theatre's website or checking out the list of currently running shows at http://www.playbill.com.

The Best Shows to See (IMHO)

I am a Broadway nut, so I've seen plenty of shows and can help you decide the best ones to go see. Here's my list in order starting with my current favorite:

- Beetlejuice
- Wicked
- Dear Evan Hansen
- Waitress
- Mean Girls
- Beautiful: The Carol King Musical
- Hamilton
- Chicago

Now, don't get me wrong, Chicago may be on the bottom, but I still love it very, very much.

Beetlejuice is an absolute MUST SEE! It was incredible, and I barely found myself not laughing. If you are a fan of the movie, you will enjoy it.

Wicked is a classic and one of my all time favorites; the story line is like no others. AND, if you didn't already notice, they have a daily lottery right before every show and you can get tickets for $30 if you name is called. The number of people they draw from the bucket changes daily, I have seen as many as 30 people get their name drawn and each of them can buy 2 tickets. So, this is always a go to possibility for me if I am just out and about but don't have another show to see. It's almost as cheap as going to a movie and SO much better!

If you're okay with crying a little in public, then you should definitely go see Dear Evan Hansen; it truly is such a beautiful show and the soundtrack cannot be beat.

Mean Girls is absolutely well done; it follows the movie almost exactly so there isn't much I didn't already know or expect from it.

Waitress is such an amazing show and the songs and lyrics are beautifully written. All you singer/songwriters out there need to check this one out.

Hamilton was of course amazing but it was a little anti-climactic for me because I had already memorized the soundtrack (Lesson Learned); when I watched the show I was more focused on the dance/movement and blocking and character portrayal, and it was still incredible.

Beautiful: The Carol King Musical was an amazing story all about the journey through Carol King's life and how she came to be who she is.

There are some shows that I still haven't seen and would like to, for example:
- The Book of Mormon
- Aladdin
- Frozen
- Come From Away
- Hadestown
- Tootsie
- Oklahoma!
Once I see these shows, I'll let you know how much my list changes.

Lets Start With Some Pizza.

Since I'm pretty much a foodie, whenever I go to visit New York there's always a new place I really want to try or have had on my bucket list to go to. Picking a place to go eat usually depends on what I'm feeling that day, which is why I have plenty of different varieties of food on my list. Let's begin with all of the pizza places.

You can find any type of pizza anywhere on the streets of New York City, but none quite like these.

- Krave It
- Vinnie's Pizzeria
- Quality Italian
- Pizza Barn
- Russo's House of Pizza
- Macchina
- Bowlmor Bowling Alley

None of these are in a specific order, mainly because I wouldn't be able to choose which one is my favorite.

Krave It will put almost anything on your pizza- from french fries to tater tots to hamburgers!

Vinnie's Pizzeria has the best garlic knot crust you can find in Brooklyn.

Quality Italian serves pizza like no other; they're famous for their chicken parm pizza (where the crust is all chicken).

Pizza Barn serves delicious pizza that's larger than your own head.

The specialty of Russo's House of Pizza is a pizza burrito that is so cheesy and delicious that it's a must try.

Macchina serves an amazing burrata pizza that they make by hand and fill with ricotta.

Bowlmor Bowling Alley is known for having an incredible pizza cake! Not only can you play a few rounds of bowling, but at the end of the day, go ahead and order a pizza cake to enjoy with your friends.

If you want, you can look up the locations of all of these amazing pizza restaurants online or read some reviews.

Moving on from pizza, let's talk about all of the other places I would suggest you go eat if you're not a huge pizza person. Here's my list of delicious places you gotta try in NYC.

- Katz's Deli
- Hometown Bar-B-Que
- Zauo
- Fine & Rare
- Buns Bar
- Allora
- The Sosta
- Merchants River House

Lets start with Katz's Deli (several locations). I've had one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've ever had at Katz, need I say more?

Hometown Bar-B-Que has, hands down, the best bar-b-que in NY and I don't even love bar-b-que that much, but I love Hometown Bar-B-Que.

Zauo is such a fun place to go because you get to catch your own fish! And, you have to eat whichever fish it is that you catch.

Fine & Rare is known for cooking a whole ostrich egg that's bigger than your head to go with your breakfast.

Buns Bar serves super yummy burgers but with fried mozzarella holding together your burger instead of buns!

Allora serves a 30 foot long pasta dish that you have to cut up just to eat! It's super fun and super delicious.

The Sosta serves super tasty, super fresh, and super fast pasta on the go.

Merchants River House is known for many things, but mac & cheese in a cone is by far my favorite; there's plenty of differently flavored mac & cheese and different toppings too.

My Favorite Part - Dessert.

Dessert is an essential part of visiting new places. With all the new flavors and exciting new things to try, it's my favorite part. Here are some of my favorite dessert places in NYC.

- Van Leeuwen
- Ice & Vice
- Luxury Ice Cream Company
- Dō
- Stuffed Ice Cream
- CoolMess

Let me just start off by saying that I had THE BEST honeycomb ice cream I've ever had at Van Leeuwen.

Ice & Vice is insanely cool; they pile up ice cream on top of ice cream and usually finish it off with a big slice of ice cream pie.

Luxury Ice Cream Company serves the craziest flavors, like bakewell tart ice cream, custard cream, and even a flavor called pink princess.

Dō is strictly soft delicious cookie dough in a cone and they use pasteurized eggs so it's completely safe to eat, but it's still super yummy.

If you're okay with getting a little messy, then you should totally go to Stuffed Ice Cream. They put 21 different flavors of 21 different scoops all on one tiny little cone. You get a huge variety of flavors, but make sure you bring a friend or two or else it'll all melt in your hand before you even finish the first scoop.

CoolMess is super fun because you get to make your own ice cream. You get to choose what flavor you want and what toppings and you put it all in one mixer and you get to watch your ice cream get made. There also some really cool Insta worthy moments by the CoolMess sign right before you walk in!
