Dear Students, I have learned so much from all of you, and I am so grateful for the effort you have put into this course! Thank you for a great semester of sharing ideas through writing :)

As a writer myself, I think the most important thing I ever learned is that writing is a tool for change. As we write, we must remember that the voice of dissent is not a whiner, a quitter, a complainer. The voice of dissent is the voice of power, of progress, of change. And as writers and as engaged community members, this must be our voice.

This semester, I think the most important thing I learned was making sure I include rhetorical elements in my own writing.

Whenever I used to write papers for my English class, I would just kind of write without really thinking too much about what I was saying. After taking this class, I have learned to include those rhetorical elements into my writing regularly, and I have found that it makes me a better writer. I also think it taught me how to make my writing clearer.

The most important thing that I have learned in this course is that being true to my opinions and viewpoints does not necessarily mean blocking out others' opinions.
Prior to this class and college in general I surrounded myself with very socially and politically like-minded people. Since being at CSU I have been exposed to a myriad of other ideas and viewpoints and its not necessarily feasible to only treat my opinions as having value. This class made that fact especially apparent due to us discussing several issues that were more controversial/conflicted in nature.

In High School I was never asked to do this but this semester has helped me figure out how to write one by finding reliable sources and also doing summaries reflecting on these sources. It showed one of the best steps to take to writing a strong paper. I really will continue to outline and do annotated bibs like this with any writing I do. It was so helpful learning how to organize information and see your own ideas being brought into it.

During this semester I've learned quite a bit, but nothing compares to the Annotated Bibliography. I never had an assignment quite like it and when I did it was never at the level of depth that this one was. This was especially helpful when creating the overall argumentative papers since it allowed for me to find all that those involved had to offered and what their targeted audience is. It helps to find the best sources possible and it requires you to state not only when it was created, but also the contextualization and audience it's trying to reach. This allows for the paper to obtain high credibility when done correctly and can lead to an overall stronger argument
