Before my dream of becoming a teacher

My dream of becoming a teacher started at a very young age. I am the oldest of four girls and also the daughter of a teacher, so I grew up playing teacher in my bedroom with my sisters. I attended Fayetteville High School and started to become more serious about becoming a teacher. I became involved with children through many different programs including school lunch buddy mentor program, becoming a summer camp counselor, babysitter, and mentor. My passion and love for children continued to grow over the years, and I became even more confident that the classroom is where I am meant to be. Above is a picture of me with my campers, when my love for children was growing a ton.

I am now a student at the University of Arkansas and am learning and gaining knowledge of how to become a good teacher. I have taken many courses to prepare me to teach and to learn how to teach well. I have had the opportunity to observe and learn from current teachers which has been very helpful. I just recently applied for the Education program here and am going to start substitute teaching soon to prepare for the future and get some hands-on experience. Above is a picture of me with a guest pass sticker on at my first observation! I loved getting to learn from the teacher and observe the students! This felt like a huge milestone and one step closer to my dream becoming reality!

After graduating from The University of Arkansas with my bachelors in Elementary Education and my masters in Childhood education, my dream is to become a first grade teacher. I want to stay in Arkansas, specifically NWA. I would love to teach in Fayetteville at the elementary school I attended when I was younger. I already dream of how I am going to decorate my classroom and what the setup of the classroom will be like. Above is a picture of what my classroom may look like!
