In high school we were analyzing the Constitution and instead of lectures or papers we "Reacted to the Past" and it was a pole playing activity. It was our job to know how our character acted and said. The teacher made us responsible for our learning and it was amazing.

I remember when we were in MSOE and did an activity in being in a state of flow. This activity was simple all we did was form a circle and our goal was to get as many balls possible being passed around at the same time. This activity was important because it teaches kids the type of focus and energy that creating music in a group requires

I was teaching a private violin lesson to a 6 year old student. She was frustrated by a concept we were working on just during that lesson I discovered so many different ways to help her discover ways to help herself learn. By the end of the lesson she was able to play the song all the way through and then we played it as a duet. I was inspired to think outside the box of my usual teaching methods. I also realized how much potential young children have to make amazing music.

My junior year English teacher created an assignment called "The Trial" where the class was split into two teams, each with an appointed lawyer, to determine who the "devil" was in the Scarlet Letter. Each team had to collect sufficient evidence and facts to support their claim.
