The first story of this classic describes a regular day of an astrologer, and the certain activities that had taken place that day. One interesting part, was when an intimidating man lumbered over to the astrologer, and challenged him to prove his supernatural powers of prediction. I personally was quite surprised upon reading that the mature astrologer would engage himself in such a frivolous and childish activity. After a slight altercation on the benefits for the winner of the bet, they commenced the challenge. The astrologer deducted that the opponent had been stabbed before, and left to perish in a desolate well. Much pleased with the astrologer's skills, the patron paid him the amount of money based on the bet. After returning back home and counting his earned money to his wife, he suddenly realised that the patron had not paid the right amount of money! I think that Tom Sawyer is a slightly stubborn boy who likes to engage himself in frivolous activities, and he also is a bit naive, lacking proper judgement. But, he is a very loyal individual who likes to take risks, which is a good characteristic.   This book is the first in all series. It talks about how 4 children lived on their own in the woods running away from an orphanage and their grandfather after their parents died. They had gotten the name The Boxcar Children as they had lived in an old boxcar in the woods during the period. The eldest - Henry Alden had to work in a doctor's house to earn some money to feed the other 3 - Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden, respectively by age. It was also how they got their first dog - Watch.
  When they were living in the boxcar, Benny was taught how to read, and also there was a Free - for - All race. What Henry did not know was that the man who had given him the prize was his grandfather! It was when Violet was sick, he showed up at the doctor's house and revealed himself
  Afterwards, when the children were living in his house, they had a shock that their boxcar was shifted into the garden! Everything was left intact, from beds to plates. Even Watch was excited and was looking for the bone he had buried. 

  I like this kind of book as it suits me - no murder mystery or scary things, else I'll have a nightmare!!!

This book is about scamming scammers, and the author is British Comedian James Veitch. He is famous for scamming scammers (and being quite funny). The book can be bought online at weneedtotalkabouttheducks.com . Still that book is quite small and if you want to, I recommend checking his Youtube videos.

Also I deleted the book on Kindle to save storage space.   It is about Nancy’s aunt’s neighbour’s granddaughter who was missing and Nancy had to figure out why she had left and—if she was kidnaped, find her. 
  This book portrays the lengths Nancy is willing to go to find Chi Che(her aunt’s neighbour’s granddaughter) and also her friends’ loyalty and determination to help her. She gets kidnaped twice but, thankfully, escapes. But this book no doubt, displays Nancy’s bravery and yearn to solve the mystery and find Chi Che.
  I would recommend this book to those who like mystery and action and also those who are ready to be glued to the book for hours.

I started reading it on Friday and am really intrigued.
  It is called The Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams. I am currently on chapter 3 of the book as I had to stop reading on Thursday to finish another Nancy drew book. 
  The first few chapters are really funny because the government wants to break down Arthur Dent’s house and make that area into a bridge but Arthur lies in front of his house to stop them from breaking it down. 😂 Then, his friend Ford Prefect ( yes, that is his name) who is supposed to be a researcher for the hitchhiker’s guide to the gale you who has been posing as an jobless actor for the last fifteen years comes along and manipulates the construction worker to not break Arthur’s house down and tells Arthur that the world was going to end and whisked him out of there. 
  That is all I read till so you can continue the book.
  From how much I have read, I think this book is for those who like humour, like science fiction and action.

A Picture Book of Amelia Earhart

A short read about a girl named Amelia Earhart, the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean by air in 1928, the first person to fly from Hawaii to California 7 years later, and also the first to fly from  L.A. to Mexico in the same year. She is so brave! But she disappeared in 1937 and till this day, no one knows for sure. So her story is a mysterious and creepy one too.

A short story about Princess Izta whom was so beautiful that although she had many wealthy suitors that promised her the world, but she still dismissed them all. A sweet fairy-tale that reminds me of the books I had read in my younger childhood days, and the ending made me sad and happy at the same time:) This book had wonderful drawings and pictures on every page too! ‘The Mystery of the Missing Necklace'

The story is about five kids who are investigators. One of the find-outers named Fredrick is a genius problem solver. He is brilliant in disguising as characters such as a random woman selling balloons, grumpy man and so on.  While he is on disguise, he observes a lot of happenings in the surroundings that would lead him and his team in solving varieties of mysteries. 

I strongly recommend this book to all my peers as the story is free flowing, exciting, keeps us at the edge of the seat to know about the mystery. 

The choice of words used by the author is great for vocabulary collection especially for composition writing.

We will also get to travel back in time with the personalities and learn how the world was in the past during those days. The infrastructure, idea of schools, travel, how people lived, interacted and learnt things without internet. 

Recently, I read Sachin Tendulkar’s Autobiography ‘Playing it my way’. 

The book talks about his life and commitment towards the sport. In spite of many odds, he went on to be an achiever making the whole nation proud. His never give-up, perseverance and positive attitude inspires me to be like him. 

In the book I also learnt about 'PCO' Public caller officer. How  people those days, especially sportsmen used to connect back to their family while they travelled abroad for months on tournaments. It took them hours on end to connect. There are 3 different parts of Wings of Fire, not including the graphic novels and legends.

The first part of Wings of Fire is about a group of young dragonets forced to fulfil their prophecy, their purpose. The five dragonets were meant to be a MudWing, SkyWing, SeaWing, SandWing and NightWing. However, all the SkyWing eggs were destroyed before the brightest night, when they were all meant to hatch. The SkyWing was replaced by a 'lazy' RainWing. The named of the Dragonets were; Clay, the MudWing. Glory, the RainWing. Tsunami, the SeaWing. Sunny, the SandWing and StarFlight the NightWing. The second part is about after the war, where the next group of main characters are; MoonWatcher the NightWing, Winter the IceWing, Qibli the SandWing, Peril the SkyWing and Turtle the SeaWing. MoonWatcher was the only NightWing, besides FateSpeaker, who could read minds or tell the future (FateSpeaker could only see faint hints of possible futures). She was hearing a voice in Jade Mountain (The school made by the dragonets of destiny, first part). (Find out more through the books)

The third part is about the lost continent, or Pantala. Away from Pyrrhia, where the first and second parts took place, are new dragons. SilkWing, HiveWings and LeafWings. SilkWings are butterfly-like dragons who are born wingless, going through metamorphosis at age six, where they spin and cocoon and  stay there for several days, developing their wings. HiveWings are Wasp/Bee-like dragons. Unlike the SilkWings, they are born with wings, some with special abilities (find out in book). Their queen, who is also the queen of the SilkWings, is Queen Wasp. LeafWings are like normal dragons. But, they were thought to be extinct, queen Wasp and her army went to war with them, thinking they wiped them all out. LeafWings have usually green or brown bodies/wings. Their wings are in the shape of giant leaves. Some were said to have been born with the rare ability to control plants. (Find out more in books)

It is about a boy named Ned and a slime named slime. (I know it would be named slime but I had to type in the slime’s name is slime) They live on the island of mulch, where grown-ups much WORSE than any grown up you’ve ever seen get the rule and rap of the island. (I made up the catchphrase if you were questioning it. Don’t ask.)  Ned has two legs. Which don’t work. The island is ruled by ned’s Aunt, Aunt Greta Greed. (I did not make up the names.)  For your pleasure of not paying to read the book, I’ll type out the first 2 pages.

The little ISLE OF MULCH was home to less than a thousand people, 999 to be precise. I told you it was less than a thousand.
  One of these 999 people was a boy named Ned. “Ned” wasn’t short for anything—he was just called Ned. Ned was eleven years old. He’d been born on MULCH and like most islanders, had never left.
  To say Ned was just an ordinary boy would be wrong. He wasn’t ordinary, he was extrodinary. Ned he’d been born with legs that didn’t work. He couldn’t walk at all, so was found a battered old rusty wheelchair and he learned to use it. The boy could often be seen whizzing around the island, doing stunts and wheelies to delight his friends.
  “I got the ZOOMIES!” He would cry as he whizzed past. Home for Ned was a tiny weather-beaten old cottage. The cottage perched on a raging cliff overlooking the raging sea that surrounded the island.
