I remember you as one of the first people I met in Washington when I came on board for USAID/Afghanistan.  I remember being very impressed with your knowledge, commitment to Afghanistan, and your friendliness.  This really stuck with me.  I had only been in the RRB once or twice in 20 years since being hired, and wasn't sure what to expect.  The Asia Bureau offices were very empty with most people teleworking.  But then there was David Bailey!  You sought me out and shared a lot of your knowledge about Afghanistan and the Asia Bureau.  Not only did I learn a lot from you, I was touched with the peaches and pickled beets that your graciously brought in to share!  It was always a pleasure just to have a chat with you and to learn about your interests and pursuits.  I highly regard you David, and hope the Mission might be able to tap into your expertise occasionally over what I hope will be the best years of your life.  You're a great man and I am privileged to have known you!  Wishing you all the best,
