The Earth and moon moves, the earth revolves around the sun, and the moon revolves around the earth. The sun stays put. The earth moves due to the sun's gravitational pull and the moon due to the earth's pull.

As seen in the picture below, the moon "waxes" as it get's bigger. Meaning, the moonlight becomes more visible on the moon as it rotates and revolves. We only see one side of the moon because it rotates and revolves at the same pace. The moon "waning" means that it is getting smaller.

Moon phases are a change in the sun lit area of one celestial body as seen from another celestial body. Waxing is the illuminated part of the moon we can see that is getting larger. Waning is the illuminated part of the moon that we can see that is getting smaller.

It has nothing to do with seasons. The relationship between Earth, Luna, and the sun make the seasons, but the seasons don't affect the relationship between them.
