         <description><![CDATA[<div>Consider this analysis: "...the play is an uncompromising reminder that it is Irish, and not English people, who have the power to decide which language is spoken in Ireland. The very fact that audiences are to imagine the play being enacted in Irish is not just a clever double-take, but a conceit which is savagely satiric of those modern audiences which lack proficiency in their own language. If they laugh at the Englishman’s halting attempts to express himself to the villagers, they are also in effect laughing at themselves" (Kiberd 616).</div>]]></description>
