Midnight Sun-Stephanie Meyer

What can I say about this book? I kept waiting for it to get better--in fact I'm still waiting. This book is over 600 pages.
Midnight Sun is part of the infamous Twilight series; this book is essentially the plot of Twilight told from Edward's point of view.
New girl moves to a town, a town inhabited by vampires. Vampire falls in love with the girl. Vampire tries to avoid girl. Fails. Light stalking turns to heavy stalking. Danger follows.
Edward talks a lot. Like, A LOT. At one point, I re-read part of Twilight to get an idea of where we were in the plot and it was nowhere near where I was (page wise). He repeats himself, has a really bad self esteem (while STILL thinking he is better than everyone else) , and puts Bella on a pedestal (which is super annoying).
Have I finished this book? No. Will I? Yes. If another one of these Twilight books comes out will I buy it? Yeah, I've read the rest of them, why not another one? Would I recommend you read this? Only if you're a Twi-hard. Otherwise, like me, you will be wondering why you are wasting your time.

This mystery book was fantastic. It had a great plot with an ending that I never could've expected. It reminds me of the movie Knives Out and I loved both of these. I've always liked the style of writing where someone you trusted actually turns out to be the culprit, and they are like the nicest person in the world! The story is written from two perspectives, the main character, and the detective. Personally, I thought that the main character needed more lines and drama in the book just to make it more exciting but I enjoyed it either way. There were some scenes for more mature audiences but I could handle it. Of course if I knew that there were scenes like these then I probably wouldn't have read this book and chosen another realistic fiction book but I do love a good mystery. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to solve a crime before the detective in the story does. Although it is pretty stereotypical for a mystery book. A girl suffers memory loss from when she was attacked and her friend was killed. The detective needs to figure out who killed her friend before the killer tries to eliminate the last survivor.

What isn't there to love? Jack, who has just gotten kicked off Broadway after his voice changes, moves to Shaker Heights, Ohio. He's glum about it--as I would be--until he meets Lu. Luisa takes a liking to Jack, but not just because he was on Broadway. The two form a bond unlike any I've ever seen in any book I've ever read. They can hug and play jokes without it feeling like they have a crush on one another. They have some hiccups in their friendship, but mostly their relationship is inpenetrable. The book has many Broadway terms I didn't know, which was to be expected, because Andrew Keenan-Bolger is a Broadway actor himself.

Do I like the book?

I love it soooooooooo much!

Ella Di Franco
I am enjoying my book. The Da Vinci code is full of connections to history such as the holy grail. It takes place in Paris, France but quickly moves to London and even outside of Edinburgh Scotland. The main character, Robert Langdon is an art professor and an expert on Da Vinci. Sophie Neveu is a gifted French cryptologist whose estranged grandfather was murdered. The book begins with a curator Jacques Saunière at the Louvre. (this is in the prologue.) He has just been shot in the stomach by Silas (the book refers to him as the albino because he was ¨ghostly pale with pink irises and dark red pupils¨). Langdon, who does not know about Jacques Saunières´ murder is annoyed that he had missed their meeting. He and Jacques Saunière were going to discuss Da Vinci´s works and the conspiracy surrounding them. But he had never come. There is a knock on the hotel room door. Langdon opens ait to find the chief of the French police. The officer informs Langdon of the curator's death, showing Polaroid of his body and explaining that he did it to himself. Langdon is driven to the Louvre and is shown the code Jacques Saunière had written before his death. Jacques Saunière had written in a special water-based pen the code,
13-3-2-21-1-1-1-8-5
O, Draconian devil!
Oh, lame saint!
Sophie Neveu figures out the code and tells Langdon he has a call. Fache allows him to use his phone. Much to Langdon´s surprise it is Sophie, she instructs him to go to make up a reason to go to the bathroom. Sophie tells him he is being tracked by the police because he is a suspect for Jacques Saunière´s murder.

The Return of the King- J.R.R. Tolkien (LOTR final book)

Daniel Park
Genre-Fantasy
Synopsis: The final book of the Lord of the Rings series. This is a classic series, and for good reason. The story starts with the ride of the company to the aid of Gondor-Gandalf and Pippin are the first to arrive in Minas Tirith, followed by Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, the Dunedain, and the army of the dead. Finally, the third group arrives at Minas Tirith-Merry, Eowyn, Theoden, Eomer, and all the other Riders of Rohan. The story then turns to the war between Gondor and Mordor-which seems hopeless to Gondor, who is greatly outnumbered. However, the tide starts to turn when Merry and Eowyn work together to kill the King Ringwraith. However, when Gondor decides to rush the Black Gate of Mordor, it still appears to be suicide. They a beacon of hope appears- the eagles come to the aid of Gondor. Then, the story turns to Frodo and Sam in Mordor, leaving the fate of Gondor in a cliffhanger. I won't spoil the whole book by giving too many details, but basically Frodo does what he has to do. Then we get to the resolution of the LOTR, where everything starts to slow down. We see friends reunite, final problems be solved, and then they sail off into the sunset (literally).
Quite simply, amazing. That's what I would use to describe the LOTR series. It's one of the classics for a reason-it really feels like you're reading about history, things that actually happened in real life. It's tough to pinpoint what exactly makes the series so special, but it truly is, and that's really all I have to say about it. Highly recommend it, absolutely amazing, a must read, the LOTR series.

The book I am reading is about two weeks in the life of a 14-year-old boy. The novel tells the story of Ponyboy Curtis and his struggles with right and wrong in a society in which he believes that he is an outsider. According to Ponyboy, there are two kinds of people in the world: greasers and socs. A soc short for "social" has money, can get away with just about anything, and has an attitude longer than a limousine. A greaser, on the other hand, always lives on the outside and needs to watch his back. Ponyboy is a greaser, and he's always been proud of it, even willing to rumble against a gang of socs for the sake of his fellow greasers--until one terrible night when his friend Johnny kills a soc. The murder gets under Ponyboy's skin, causing his bifurcated world to crumble and teaching him that pain feels the same whether a soc or a greaser.

Van Houten replies to their emails eventually, and tells them that he would answer questions in person. Hearing that, Augustus invites Hazel Grace to a picnic. there, he confessed that he used his wish to take the both of them to Amsterdam, where the author is. unfortunately they find out that the author was not a professional kind hearted man after seeing him in person, all drunk and rude. i like this book a lot, the ending is upsetting but it fits the story a lot and we can learn from it.

Sydney Joo
genre-young adult

This book is called All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. It's about a girl named Violet Markey and a boy named Theodore Finch or Finch. These two are opposites Violet is popular while Finch is the freak. Ever since Violet's sister died in a car crash her life hasn't been the same she doesn't like to do her old hobbies or like her old friends. For Finch he thinks about killing himself every second of the day he even writes fun facts about how other people killed themselves. The first time Violet and Finch interact in the book is when there both thinking about attempting suicide on top of the bell tower and Finch saves Violet from jumping and Violet saves Finch from falling and they are the talk of the school on how Violet saved Finch. After this they start to have a pretty intense romance. They end up pairing up for a history project even though Violet doesn't want to do the project their U.S geography teacher insists Violet does the project. After that they start wandering the sights of Indiana. They soon start a. relationship and one night Finch keeps Violet out late which makes Violet's parents dislike Finch and forbid Violet from seeing him. Finch hides the fact that he's depressed from Violet and Violet wonders if he's losing interest. One night Finch decides to end his life and takes a handful of sleeping pills and regrets it and goes to the emergency room to get his stomach pumped. He then join a support group where he runs into Amanda a girl from school and a friend of Violet. Amanda tells Violet about FInch's suicide attempt. Finch then get's angry and runs away from home.Violet starts looking for him following the clues he leaves from these mysterious texts he leaves her. A month after he disappears he sends and email to everyone he knows saying goodbye and Violet finds him at the Blue Hole one of their wandering sites. She then decides to decode the texts Finch sent her .Then she visits the last sight they were supposed to go to. The book ends with Violet going swimming by herself in the Blue Hole and it brings her to a sense of peace. I thought this book was good its interesting to see the connection between Finch and Violet and how their so different from each other but they work together. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like young adult books. I thought this book was good but also a little confusing with all the quotes and references to literature.

The book i was reading is Ashes in the Snow by Ruta Sepetys. This book is about a sixteen year old girl named Lina. Her life was perfect most of the time until one knock on her door, changed her life in an instant. One late night the Soviet secret police took Lina, her younger brother, and her mother away to a prison camp. They were separated from their father and the only way Lina could send messages was with drawing but the problem was that they didn't know what prison camp their father was at. Until Lina meet this boy named Andrius Arvydas that told her that he would help her look for her father and his father aswell. But not long after they became friends they got separated and Lina got sent to a different prison camp but they promised each other that they would find each other again. Where Lina and her family were sent it was very cold and it snowed alot. They treated them in a very horrible way, like for example they would make them work for hours without food or water, they didn't get medication or any medical help when they were injured, and they didn't give them extra clothes or warm clothes. One day Lina got a letter saying that her father was dead. Not long after that her mom died from starvation and from being sick. Now it was just Lina and her younger brother Jonas. One of the officers told Lina that her father might not be dead because some people were spreading false news. At the end of the book Lina clenches the stone Andrius gave her and whispers "Yes, i'll see you soon"

By: Mathias Malzieu
Adventure/ Fiction

This book is called The Boy with the Cuckoo-Clock Heart. I enjoyed this book because there were many thrilling scenes. The book is about a boy named Jack that was born on the coldest day and his heart had frozen. His mother climbed to the top of the hill hoping some would help her give birth. When they saw his heart had turned into ice, the Madeleine, that lady that lived in that home had to replace his heart with a clock so he would be able to survive. Madeleine tells her that there 3 important rules he must follow or he could die the first rule is that He should not touch the hands of his cuckoo-clock heart second he had to control his anger and the most important rule was to never fall in love or else he would certainly die. She also says that they should stay in her house tonight because of the harsh condition it was outside. In the middle of the night, she left the house and left jack with Madeleine because it was too much for her to handle.
On his 12 birthday, he is allowed to go to town he has never left the house he has been rase but when they left Madeleine loses Jack and he ends up falling in love and Maddlin slaps him and said he couldn't go again that caused serious damage to him. He figures out that the person he loved goes to school and has always been home school so they end up letting him go. He was pretty sad when he got there only to figure out that she was not there was this tallboy called Joe everyone respects him. Later on, Joe figures out that Jack has a cuckoo- Clock as a heart and they bullied him. Until one day a paper fell out of Joe's pocket and Jack picks it up and sees the name of the girl that he fell in love with. Joe sees that jack has his letter and they fight over it and then Jack accidentally pocks Joe in the eye with the bird that comes out of his Cuckoo- Clock but he mages to escape. The police when after them and he ends up escaping with the help of Madeleine and the arrest her. Later on, in the book, she dies because of sadness. Jack finds the girl kisses her and hi cuckoo- Clock exploded. One of his friends that he meets on the journey fixes his heart but it took him a long time and knows he is 20 and then he tells the girl a final goodbye.

By Rick Riordan
Fantasy Fiction

The book that I read was the Mark Of Athena and it was over 500 pages long. Every single page was good it it kept getting better and better. I enjoyed the book because it had a lot of interesting scenes that made me want to keep reading more. I will definitely finish the series.
Camp Half blood finds out that Jason and Percy got switched and now they are in different camps. Camp Half Blood sent Annabeth, Piper, Leo, Jason, and a satyr named Coach Hedge to go to Camp Jupiter to get Percy on a flying ship. They got to Camp Jupiter and everyone went down except for Leo and Coach Hedge. They went to talk about the Prophecy of Seven and to make peace. The Seven in the Prophecy were Percy, Jason, Annabeth, Piper, Hazel, Frank, and Leo. While the Greeks and Romans were talking and trying to make peace an eidolon possessed Leo and he fired at he camp. Everyone ran in panic to safe spot and they had a meeting to see if they were going to stay friends or have a battle. After the meeting they decided to attack Camp Half Blood.
The Romans attacked the seven in the prophecy and they retreated back to the ship. They all yelled at Leo and he explained what happened to him. They headed to Rome to stop the giants and save their Friend Nico who was captured by the giants. When they got to Rome Annabeth had a quest of her own from her mother Athena. The quest was that she had to retrieve Athena Parthenos that was stolen by the Romans from the Greeks in ancient times. She did the quest but she had to fight Athena's enemy Arachne. While she does that the others go save Nico from the giants and Percy and Jason work together to defeat the giants.
The spider army scatters as the Argo II crashes in. Percy came down and the two exchange stories about what happens. The group is happy that they recovered the statue and set about using the ship to get it out. While they are trying to move the statue, the cavern starts to collapse around them. The group heads to the ship to escape, but Annabeth is caught in a web spun by Arachne. Percy grabs her arm and tries to stop her from being pulled down into Tartarus. She tells him to let her go, but he refuses. They both fell into the Tartarus and the others can't do anything about it right now so they mourn.
<var> </var>

This book was written by Roger Lancelyn Green. The genre can be considered fantasy, depending on whether you believe the old myths or not. It recounts the old stories of King Arthur and his knights' adventures. Their most important quest was the Quest of the Holy Grail, where the knights Galahad, Percivale, and Bors found the Holy Grail and were filled with wonder. King Arthur's realm had prophecies about that quest, and when it was achieved, the end of the realm was near.
I liked this selection due to how culturally different it is, and the stories are fun. Since many people take ideas from Arthur, it's nice to know who exactly Launcelot or Galahad is when they come up in modern culture / literature.

By Rick Riordan
Fantasy Fiction
"Percy Jackson and the Olympians" written by Rick Riordan was action packed, for the most part the book was about Percy Jackson along with his friends going through a plethora of challenges, enemies, and generally hardships through a quest to prevent Kronos from invading it's once impenetrable borders which would inches the war between Titans and Gods just a little closer. The beginning of the book introduces us to a new school that Percy Jackson is going to for orientation, it gives us an internal view on this school and how conscious and concerned Percy is about fighting gods, in general powerful nemeses, and enemies. As you proceed to read ahead the characters are met with several hardships within the Labyrinth, such as shifting walls, narrowing passageways, and closing off exits and entrances, these problems are intersected with just as interesting, clever, and bright solutions to their set of challenges facing ahead of their quest.
l personally felt extremely immersed while reading this book it had the perfect combination between conflict and equally if not more clever solutions to these problems. I feel that I would love to read the complete series of Percy Jackson, hopefully they are all just as good if not better than this squeal.

By: Tracy Weber
Genre: Mystery
Synopsis:

This story centers around a seemingly normal yoga instructor Kate Davidson who lived in the charming Greenwood neighborhood. However, her tranquility is brought to a breaking point by a homeless duo of an ill-tempered dog and a middle-aged man named George. His menacing German Shepherd was a territorial dog and would not let any dog in a 2-foot radius around him go without trying to give them a piece of his mind, which chased away all her students. However given their rocky introduction, they form an unlikely friendship, and she learns a lot about George and Bella. She learns about Bella’s rare disease called EPI, which prevents her from properly digesting food, which had a toll on her body weight and health. The disease could only be treated by an expensive medicine, which cost $200 to support her for 2 weeks, but she would need the medicine for the rest of her life. Out of desperation of keeping his best friend, George tells Kate that he had a plan for obtaining the money he needed. He claimed someone “owned” him, which Kate found suspicious and potentially dangerous. Later that day, she found his body, murdered in cold blood, and left on the cold concrete floor of the alleyway.

After the detectives dismiss this case as a drug-related street crime, she knew she had to take things into her own hands and had the feeling there was something more to the story. She then desperately tries to investigate and dig into George’s foggy past to find the murderer, all the while trying to find Bella a new adoptive home and provide her with the care and support she needs before she is sent to the big dog park in the sky.

I genuinely enjoyed and was engrossed in this book because of the constant suspense and the mystery that she has to deduct to honor his death. I was also interested in how Kate was able to carry all this burden and responsibility of taking care of Bella, all the while tackling her everyday problems, such as her inconsistent love life and the dreaded rent due date. The character personalities are also very fun and engaging because they were all relatable traits that regular people possess. An example of this is Kate’s feisty and determined personality, as well as Rene (her best friend’s) ditzy but loyal friendship. Overall, this book is a must-read and I was so delighted to hear how this would be an ongoing series. I cannot wait to read the next book to this great series, it would most certainly leave you addicted and wanting more.

By Suzanne Weyn
Genre: Dystopian fiction
The Bar Tattoo is about the life of a teenage girl in the Dystopian Society. Her government decided to make changes that would make life easier for the community. However that isn't how it ended up going for Kayla, at first her dad got the tattoo and he seemed fine for a while and they thought it was a great improvement but as time passed they began to realize that he no longer had the energy to go to work and would stay in bed all day and it eventually drove him to commit suicide. Kayla and a group of her friends that also had opinions that conflicted with society did their research on the tattoo and produced articles about what they thought however nobody believed them. It got so bad that Kayla had to escape and find a way out of the tourture she was living when she was almost forced into getting tattooed at the hospital she had to stay in when her house caught on fire and her mother died.
Although the author did a good job helping the reader feel the pain Kayla and her family were experiencing and it was a well written story I prefer reading calmer and more joyful stories.

In the beggining they make the witch out to be a scary evil witch who eats the children's souls and leaves their lifeless bodies to roam around the earth. But the witch is nothing like that. She is a caring soul with a small dragon as a pet and a swamp monster as a friend. I really like this book because I like the fantasy vibes coming from this book. I was always a fan of witches and dragons and fantasy themes. The only problem I have is that I lost interest towards the middle of the book but other then that the book was great an I totally recomend it
