Initialy, Czech leader Edward Beneš was willing to fight. However, after British and French leaders met with Hitler and Mussolini and signed the Munich Agreement, deciding that the Sudetenland would be given to Germany without consulting the Soviets or the Czechs which had a Mutual Military Assistance Treaty with each other.
