1. How do the elements of the Story, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution/denouement, affect the reading of the story 2. How does the Point-of-View (1st person, 3rd person omniscient, 3rd person omniscient limited, or 3rd person omniscient objective) influence the readers emotional response to the st 3. How does the use of flashback, foreshadowing, reflection, shift in time, tone, mood, setting or perspective impact the theme of the story?

The exposition impacts the story because the biblical story foreshadows what is going to happen later on and adds to what they use to justify what had happened, if we had not been given this context we would quite literally believe there was a tiger. It also helps show the cultural background of the people there.

I think that the 1st person perspective in the story allows the reader to really "get into the shoes" of the Shepard, and I don't think that any other point of view would have served the same purpose as effectively. the point is the isolation and outside perspective on the atom bomb, and you can only really get that through the first person perspective of the Shepard. It comes with the confusion and lack of understanding as well as just the raw fear.

With the knowledge of the elements of the story and knowing when they occur helps the reader understand where the most important parts occur. Having this story in first person makes the story seem very personal and honest, it is like it comes from personal experience. The theme of the story is effected with the tone and mood, helping it set the environment for how the story continues.

Especially because this is a complex story, seeing the different elements and details in separate parts will help the reader understand the true meaning of this story. I think the reason the author chose to tell the story in first person was so the reader could feel more intimate with the Shepard and really feel what emotions were going through the Shepard's mind. Ultimately, seeing the story in first person allows the reader to casually feel a connection with the shepard.
