Hey everyone, my name is Najib Nakhel and I am originally from Syria. The picture i shared is for a food called Makdoos. It takes almost 2 weeks of work to make it. Back in Syria, making this food used to be a social event where you invite friends and family to help. I feel like this food represents my culture based on the fact that it brings people close together and that is the small town feeling I used to have in Syria. Hello, everyone! My name is Susan Odom, and I live in Jacksonville, Florida. I'm lucky to live by the St. John's River, which is a locally-loved and beautiful element of the city. In this particular picture, I was trying to capture the dolphins that frequently swim through the area (probably my favorite part of living by the river). Jacksonville is sometimes called "the city of bridges" because of the seven major bridges that cross the St. Johns and Ortega River throughout the city.

Hi everyone, my name is Mia Valdes! I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, to a Peruvian mother and a Cuban father. I am proud of my parents for moving here and for their accomplishments. I am grateful for growing up in a loving, cultural home/city. This photo represents the Peruvian side of my culture, and it is a dish called Ceviche. I have been visiting Peru since I was a little girl, and this photo is from last year when I took a trip with my older brother and grandma. I think Peru has one of the best foods, and being able to visit family there is a blessing. I can't wait to read everyone's blogs and learn something new.

Hello, how is it going? My name is Sarah Gross, and I live in South Florida, but I'm actually from Brazil! The aspect about my culture I decided to share is a fried snack we eat there and the traditional drink. This is called pastel, consisting of fried dough with a filling inside (mine was cheese and corn), and the drink is guarana, a soda that has the flavor of the guarana fruit. Although this picture was taken in Brazil, I can easily find the same meal here in South Florida, since many Brazilian people live here.

Well, I don't know what to tell about myself, and I don't really have any photos 😅

This is a general photo with my friends from school (I'm the guy on the left), I haven't seen them for a long time and every meeting seems special, and our time was quite difficult to meet. Due to certain problems, now we are all scattered across different cities, even countries, but we still don't give up!

I really love traveling and relaxing in nature and I could not refuse the opportunity to meet my classmates + relax in nature in the mountains)

Hello everyone!

My name is Cindy Tendeiro. I was born and raised in America and have served in the US military. I am also a mother and lover of nature and outdoor sports! Even though I have lived my entire life in the US I have a strong connection with my Brazilian culture since my parents are Brazilian. I enjoy so many aspects about the Brazilian culture including the delicious food but mainly the warmth of the people and how Brazilians make friends quickly anywhere they go. I am excited to meet and learn about new cultures and traditions from my fellow peers in this course!

Hello everyone! My name is Diana Prado, ethnically, I am Nicaraguan and Dominican but I was born and raised here in Florida. I take pride in my parents culture and am still trying to learn the history and customs but I also have my own Miami culture. Hello everyone, my name is Daniel Ospina. I had some trouble with the video upload, so I decided to create this collage instead, which highlights various aspects of my life—my roots, my family, my culture, and where I was raised. I was born in Pereira, Colombia, and moved to Miami, FL at the age of 4. I'm incredibly proud of my heritage. In one of the photos, you'll see our traditional dish called "Bandeja Paisa." It may seem like a lot, but trust me, it's delicious, and all the flavors blend beautifully.

Family means everything to me. I included a photo of my amazing mother and older brother, as well as a picture from when I surprised my father on his 50th birthday. I truly don’t know where I’d be without their unwavering love and support. I’ve also included a picture of my better half—my husband—who has been my rock for the past five years. They’ve been the most adventurous years of my life.

Lastly, I added some photos of Miami Beach, where I grew up and the place I return to whenever I need peace and quiet to reflect on life.

I'm not sure where to start. I come from a Colombian background and spent most of my childhood there. The region where I was raised is known for its countryside and beautiful landscapes. I love going to small towns and "fincas," which means farms or country homes. I also love animals and nature. In the above video, you can see a small glimpse of a town called Jericó, located in Antioquia, Colombia.
