         <description><![CDATA[<div>Paragraph 1: Summarize the speaker's purpose (be specific and precise) and tone (study the tone words sheet). Yes, since the purpose is connected to audience, this is a good place to mention who the audience is. Use evidence from the text as needed.<br><br>Paragraph 2:&nbsp; Make a judgement/critique the speech in terms of HOW effective (or God forbid) ineffective. (Note about effectiveness: a speech is effective if the speaker is believable, credible, and achieves its purpose). Also, choose the rhetorical appeal(s) and rhetorical device(s) that BEST support your judgement of how effective or ineffective the speech is. (example from Challenger speech: allusion to Sir Francis Drake, allusion to the poem at the end of the speech, repetition of "we never"). Remember to cite evidence from the text!</div>]]></description>
