"Think before you answer, for it shall be done as you decide. As you decide, you shall be left as you were before, and neither richer nor wiser, unless the sense of service rendered to a man in mortal distress may be counted as a kind of riches of the soul. Or, if you shall so prefer to choose, a new province of knowledge and new avenues to fame and power shall be laid open to you, here, in this room, upon the instant; and your sight shall be blasted by a prodigy to stagger the unbelief of Satan." (Stevenson, pg 37) This quote presents the overall theme of good vs evil because lanyon can either just look at the kind act and see the good or go head on with the evil.

Who is the main character in your book? What is this character like? Tell the character’s name, age, appearance, friends, personality, and problems…
Start out: The main character of my book is…
The main character of my book is Mr.Utterson. He is a middle aged lawyer that lives in Soho, London. He is the narrator of the story and everything we learn in the story is from his point of view. At certain times he narrates the story and describes settings or explains his train of thought. However at other times he drives the story by strongly investigating the strange man known as Mr.Hyde. Mr.Utterson is a very old friend of Dr.Jekyll and notices many of the changes in either his personality or his body language. Personally Mr.Utterson is a very respectable man he is a gentleman by nature. He has all of the ideal manners and he is very proper and formal. As a gentleman he doesn’t gossip even though he hears and discovers many interesting pieces of information. Unfortunately Mr.Utterson is also sort of a pushover and lets many people walk over him like when Dr jekyll shut down the conversation they were having and all Mr.Utterson said was “I have no doubt you are perfectly right.”(Stevenson, pg 13). Clearly showing he had no intention of even trying to stick up for himself after being treated like a child.
