Shutter Speed is the length of time the camera shutter is open and how often you can see the screen. its looks more smooth when higher and quite choppy when lower.

Aperture is how the camera lens affects the brightness and has an effect on the depth of field.

Fill Light - Fills in light on areas which the key light doesn't

Back Light - Light which covers the subject from the back

This also helped me understand how much similarities and differences each documentary type had and helped me to come up with my final decision on what documentary I am going to do even though I wasn't fully committed to one style seeing how a lot of documentaries used multiple styles I thought it would do the same.

Another problem was that the audio was quite quiet which i didn't pick up on but only on some clips i think this might be mixed with fact that some clips i'm moving the camera around so it cant pick up the sound as good but also because some people i interviewed were louder than the others so next time i will definitely play them back more to check the audio.

Another problem i ran into over those 2 days was that dans interview i couldnt really see his clothes as they were too dark to pick up so i had to try fix that when editing which made it a little bit grainy but overall it look good.

And lastly was the interviews felt to dull like something was missing so i added music but just enough so it didn't feel empty but so you could still hear them as well as the music.

Moving onto editing for the actual music groups wasn't too hard the only hard bit was i realised that my b roll footage didn't really suit what i was talking about so i had to go get some stock footage which took some time definitely finding photos, so definitely need to plan that more if i do it again next time.

Another thing with the photos and videos was adding them in at the right time to sync up with the voice over as if i added them to early before i said it, it looked weird and same with the other way if i added them too late so it took me quite a while to match them up, another thing with the photos and videos is that some didn't fit the screen size so I had to make them all like fit into screen a certain way to make it look nice and add a video or another photo in the background to fill the screen so it didn't look weird.

The biggest problem i faced though was that i left to edit way too late which meant i couldn't finish my documentary how i wanted to and had to cut a lot of it out as i had no time to edit it in, overall thought editing part was very stressful and i shouldve gave myself more time and got all the pictured and videos i needed before editing so next time i will have to work on that but apart from that it turned out better than I would've thought for a tight schedule for editing.

My influence for the voice over style were mostly youtube commentary videos which do similar stuff like using stock footage then talking over it showing pictures and videos of what they are talking about which i used this technique a lot in the voice over section when talking about an artist showed picture of said artist and what they are doing, the interview part wasn't really influenced by anything i just thought it would be a cool add on to the documentary.

I selected these because i feel like i like to express my own opinion so trying to go for a performative would allow me to do that however the main reason for expository is because i didn't really want to be on camera.

I used both non diegetic and diegetic sound as it fitted in to my documentary there wasn't really any particular reason to why as the only non diegetic sounds were the interviews, but i feel like i used diegtic more as its to do with music which i feel like you can understand and fell the music more when you listen to it in a more no diegetic way.

I think i did get my message across quite well as the evidence i used is clear and i feel like my documentary isnt about anything no ones heard before its more of a documentary that makes you realise what im saying is true.

I found a lot difficult though but the main thing was what to do my documentary about and how to structure it as i've said before i changed my idea but also i edited it in a different way than my script which really made the whole editing part longer as i had to think about how to put it all together i think i need to start planning how im going to edit it as well as film it because i think i underestimate how hard editing something can be if you don't have an idea of how its going to turn out, but also getting everything ready to edit like the stock videos and footage which i got late ready too late which stopped me making the exact documentary i want. but one of the biggest problems is i left it too late to record shoot write edit and everything which i really need to work on is time management not just for projects but for the real world as well.

what i did well though was create a narrative i feel like what i was trying to get across in my documentary i managed to do as well as make it look watchable without having to turn off due to it being boring.
