Our first class started on 23/09/2024 in the IIUM Mosque, where we got to know each other for the first time. For me, ta'aruf and ice-breaking sessions are very important because they can help us interact with people and meet non-familiar faces across the world. Our classmates are very unique as some of them were from abroad and they also shared some of their cultures there which made me so excited to be friends with them.

Adab in learning knowledge 🌹

1. Intention (نية):

Before seeking knowledge, it is essential to purify one’s intention. Learning should be for the sake of Allah, to benefit oneself and others, and not for personal gain, pride, or showing off.

2. Humility:

A student must approach learning with humility, recognizing that they do not know everything and that there is always room for growth. Humility before teachers and knowledge itself is crucial.

3. Respect for instructors:

Instructors are seen as representatives of the knowledge passed down from the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and should be respected. This includes showing gratitude, being punctual, and listening attentively.

4. Gratitude:

A student should express gratitude not only for the knowledge they acquire but also for the opportunities to learn. Recognizing the value of knowledge is central to benefiting from it.

5. Practice What Is Learned:

Knowledge or Ilmu is not complete until it is practiced. The true test of knowledge is not how much one knows, but how much one applies it in daily life, aligning actions with learning.

7. Good Manners and Conduct:

Islam places a significant emphasis on good character. A good student should strive to embody the teachings of Islam, both in knowledge and in manners. This includes being kind, courteous, and respectful toward others.

8. Doa:

It is important to ask Allah for success in seeking knowledge and to remain steadfast in learning. As a student, we should always pray for guidance and understanding.

Dua for Seeking Knowledge:

A beautiful and concise supplication for seeking beneficial knowledge is the following prayer:

اللهم إني أسألك علمًا نافعًا، ورزقًا طيبًا، وعملاً متقبلاً.

(Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan)

Meaning: "O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good sustenance, and accepted deeds."

In summary, adab in learning is about combining knowledge with character, sincerity, and respect, ensuring that the knowledge acquired leads to personal growth, beneficial actions, and closeness to Allah.

In Islam, belief in Malai'kah (the angels) is one of the key pillars of faith that a Muslim must uphold. Angels are spiritual beings created by Allah from light.

They do not have free will and are completely obedient to Allah’s commands.

The 3rd pillar of Islam is belief in Kutub (the Books). This belief acknowledges that Allah revealed sacred scriptures to His chosen messengers throughout history, each serving as a guide for their respective communities. These divine books are essential for understanding Allah’s will and the moral and spiritual guidance He has provided to humanity.

The belief in the Kutub signifies that a Muslim accepts the divine revelations as truth and that these books contain the message of Allah, intended to direct humanity toward righteousness, justice, and the worship of the One True God.

The Qur'an is the final and most complete of these books, while previous scriptures, such as the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel, were also divinely revealed to earlier prophets. However, Muslims believe that these earlier scriptures have been altered or lost over time, while the Qur'an remains unchanged and preserved in its original form.

The primary books believed to have been revealed by Allah are:

The Qur'an: The final revelation to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), complete and unchanged, containing the ultimate guidance for mankind.

The Torah (Tawrat): The book revealed to Prophet Musa (Moses) to guide the Children of Israel.

The Psalms (Zabur): The book revealed to Prophet Dawud (David)

The Gospel (Injil): The book was revealed to Prophet Isa (Jesus) to guide the followers of the previous covenant.

The Scrolls (Suhuf): The writings revealed to earlier prophets, such as Ibrahim (Abraham), which contained guidance for their respective communities.

Allah (S.W.T) says in the Qur'an:

"Indeed, We have sent down to you [O Muhammad] the Book in truth, confirming what was before it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. It is not just a religious text for Muslims but a divine manual that offers wisdom on how to lead a righteous and meaningful life.

One of the fundamental pillars of Iman (faith) in Islam is belief in the Books of Allah. This pillar requires a Muslim to believe that Allah has revealed sacred scriptures to His chosen Prophets, guiding humanity with divine laws, wisdom, and the knowledge necessary for salvation. These revealed books, which were sent throughout history to different peoples, serve as a source of guidance and law for their respective communities.

The Revealed Books in Islam

In the Qur'an, Allah mentions several Books that He revealed to His Prophets, each serving as a guide to the people of their time. These Books are considered sacred, and Muslims are required to believe in them as part of their faith. The major revealed Books are:

The Tawrat (Torah) – Revealed to Prophet Musa

The Tawrat is the sacred book that was revealed to Prophet Musa, who was sent to the Children of Israel. It contained laws, commands, and guidance for the people of that time. While Muslims believe the original Tawrat contained divine guidance, they also believe that over time, its message was altered or lost.

Qur'anic Reference:

"Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light."
—Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:44)

The Zabur (Psalms) – Revealed to Prophet Dawud

The Zabur is the book revealed to Prophet Dawud, which is often associated with songs of praise, wisdom, and guidance. Muslims believe that it too contained divine revelations, though, like the Tawrat, it has been altered over time.

Qur'anic Reference:

"And to Dawud, We gave the Zabur." —Surah Al-Isra (17:55)

The Injil (Gospel) – Revealed to Prophet Isa (Jesus) (PBUH)

The Injil was revealed to Prophet Isa (Jesus), and it contained guidance for the people of his time, focusing on monotheism, righteousness, and the love of Allah. Muslims believe that the Injil was a book of guidance, but the current Gospels in the Bible do not represent the original text revealed to Prophet Isa (PBUH).

Qur'anic Reference:

"And We gave him the Injil, in which was guidance and light..."
—Surah Al-Ma'idah (5:46)

The Qur'an – Revealed to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)

The Qur'an is the final and most complete revelation from Allah. It was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) over 23 years. Unlike the previous scriptures, which were revealed for particular nations or peoples, the Qur'an is for all of humanity and is preserved in its original form without any alteration. It serves as guidance for all aspects of life and provides the final completion of Allah's messages to mankind.

Qur'anic Reference:

"This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah." —Surah Al-Baqarah (2:2)

The Suhuf (Scrolls) – Revealed to Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) (PBUH)

The Suhuf are the scrolls given to Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), which contained moral and spiritual guidance. These early revelations emphasized monotheism and living righteously by Allah's will.

Qur'anic Reference:

"Indeed, this is the Book of the Scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa."
—Surah Al-A'la (87:19)

The Role of the Books of Allah

Each of these Books was sent to guide people in different eras and circumstances. While the essence of all these Books is the same to call humanity to worship the One true God, live with righteousness, and adhere to the divine law the Qur'an is considered the final and most complete revelation. It supersedes all previous scriptures, correcting alterations and additions that may have crept into them over time.

Belief in All the Books of Allah

Muslims are required to believe in all the Books revealed by Allah, including those that have been lost or altered over time. This belief is part of the broader Islamic faith and emphasizes the continuity of Allah’s message to humanity. The Qur'an serves as the final testament, confirming the truth contained in all previous scriptures.

Qur'anic Reference:

"The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His Books and His messengers, [saying], 'We make no distinction between any of His messengers.' And they say, 'We hear and we obey. Grant us Your forgiveness, our Lord. To You is the final destination.'" —Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285)

Conclusion: The Role of the Books of Allah in Islam

The belief in the Books of Allah is a fundamental aspect of faith in Islam. These scriptures are seen not just as historical texts but as living guides that continue to inspire, instruct, and illuminate the path for believers. Muslims hold that the Qur'an, the last and final revelation, is the ultimate guidance, perfecting and completing the messages of the previous books. By believing in the Books of Allah, Muslims affirm their belief in the continuity of divine guidance and their commitment to following the divine path outlined in these scriptures.

One of the key pillars of Iman (faith) in Islam is the belief in Rasul (Messengers). This belief entails recognizing and accepting that Allah, in His wisdom and mercy, has sent a series of messengers to guide humanity. These messengers are chosen by Allah to deliver His divine message, establish His laws, and call people to worship Him alone. The Qur'an makes it clear that Allah has sent messengers to every nation and people throughout history, each bringing guidance specific to their time and place.

Muslims are required to believe in all the messengers sent by Allah, as part of their faith. This includes the belief in the final messenger, Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), who brought the last and most complete revelation in the form of the Qur'an.

Rasul vs. Nabi: The Difference

In Islamic terminology, Nabi and Rasul are both terms used to describe individuals who were chosen by Allah to deliver His message. However, there are key differences between the two:

Nabi (Prophet):

A Nabi is a prophet who was sent by Allah to guide his own people, but he did not necessarily bring a new scripture or a new law. Instead, Nabi's role was to reinforce the message of previous Prophets and continue to guide the people to worship Allah alone and live righteously.

A Nabi may not have a specific mission to deliver a new book or law but is given the authority to remind people of the existing divine commandments.

Rasul (Messenger):

A Rasul is a special type of prophet who is chosen by Allah to deliver a new book or revelation and to establish a new law or divine system. A Rasul is usually sent when a society has either corrupted the previous revelation or when a new stage in human development requires a new scripture.

All Rasuls are Nabis, but not all Nabis are Rasuls.

The Role of the Rasul in Islam

The role of a Rasul is to bring a divine message (revealed scripture) and guide the people with that message. The Rasulsare not just messengers but also leaders who are sent to transform societies, establish justice, and guide humanity back to the path of righteousness.

The last and final Rasul in Islam is Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), who was sent to all of humanity with the final revelation, the Qur'an, which is considered eternal and unaltered.

Qur'anic Verses on Rasul and Nabi

1. The Concept of Rasul:

The Qur'an mentions the concept of Rasul many times, describing the role of these messengers in delivering Allah's commands.

Verse 1:
"Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And there is no nation to whom We did not send a warner."
— Surah Fatir (35:24)

This verse emphasizes that Allah has sent messengers (Rasul) to every nation, delivering the divine message, and calling people to worship Allah alone.

2. The Concept of Nabi:

While all Rasuls are Nabis, the term Nabi is used more broadly in the Qur'an, referring to those who were sent to guide their people but without necessarily bringing new laws or books.

Verse 2:
"And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Prophets and you [O Muhammad] and from Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and Isa, son of Maryam. And We took from them a solemn covenant." — Surah Al-Ahzab (33:7)

This verse includes several Nabis, mentioning major prophets like Noah (Nuh), Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Musa), and Jesus (Isa), showing that all these prophets are part of the divine covenant with Allah, though their roles may differ in terms of bringing new laws.

3. The Difference Between Nabi and Rasul:

The Qur'an makes a distinction between a Nabi and a Rasul in a few places, though both are recognized as part of the divine chain of guidance.

Verse 3:
"And when We sent to them a Messenger from themselves, they denied him, and so the punishment took them in the way of the transgressors." — Surah Ar-Rum (30:47)

Here, the word "Messenger" refers to a Rasul sent to a community. The verse implies that a Rasul is sent with a new message or book, often faced with rejection by his people.

4. Prophet Muhammad as the Final Rasul:

In Islam, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the final Rasul sent by Allah, completing the line of messengers and delivering the last and final revelation, the Qur'an.

Verse 4:
"Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the seal of the Prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing."
— Surah Al-Ahzab (33:40)

This verse confirms that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the final Rasul and that there will be no more messengers after him. This seals the line of prophecy with the Qur'an as the final revelation.

5. General Belief in All Prophets (Nabi) and Messengers (Rasul):

Muslims are required to believe in all of Allah's messengers, whether they are Nabis or Rasuls.

Verse 5:
"The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His Books and His messengers, [saying], 'We make no distinction between any of His messengers.' And they say, 'We hear and we obey. Grant us Your forgiveness, our Lord. To You is the final destination.'"
— Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285)

This verse affirms the requirement for Muslims to believe in all of Allah’s messengers, recognizing that each one played a vital role in conveying Allah's guidance.

Conclusion: Belief in Rasul and Nabi in Islam

Belief in the Rasul and Nabi is a core component of the Islamic faith. While a Nabi is a prophet sent to guide a specific community, a Rasul is a messenger who brings a new scripture or divine law, often to correct or reinforce the guidance previously given. Muslims believe in all the Prophets and Messengers, from Adam (A.S) to Muhammad (S.A.W), as part of their faith in the divine system of guidance.

The final revelation, the Qur'an, was sent through the final Rasul, Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), and it serves as the eternal guide for humanity. Believing in these messengers and accepting their messages is essential to a Muslim’s faith in the divine wisdom and guidance of Allah.

Iman means faith or belief, and we will be tested in the way Allah tested our level of faith towards Him, Our Creator. There are reasons why Allah tests us, as He wants to direct us to Him, correct us in all our wrongdoings, protect us from hell, inspect us in every thing that we do, and also perfect us as Muslims.

Besides that, our group also touches on the causes of weak faith, as the first one is a temptation from Satan. Not only that, but a bad environment also can affect our faith levels followed by the behavior of human nature where nowadays liberalism is going wide among the youths. Not forgetting the behavior of having an extreme love of dunya and not focusing on akhirah whereas we all have too much fun with the world nowadays.

However, Allah never leaves us drowned, He always helps us by promising rewards and giving us the courage to change ourselves for better Muslims. We can see it in the Al-Quran, Surah An-Nur (24:35) where we can increase our knowledge of Allah by understanding Asmaul-Husna. Next, Surah Al-Isra' (17:9), where we can establish and strengthen our connection with the Al-Quran. The third verse is from Surah Ar-Ra'd (13:28) where Allah reminds us to pray and always zikr in the way of remembering Him. In Surah Al-Baqarah (2:261), if we engage in acts of charity, we can improve our faith. The last verse was from the same Surah (2:153) where we need to strengthen our patience to feel the favor of having a pure faith towards Allah.

Ihsan:

Ihsan is an Arabic term in Islamic theology that translates to "excellence" or "perfection." It refers to the act of worshiping Allah as if you see Him, and even if you cannot see Him, knowing that He sees you. Ihsan represents the highest level of faith and encompasses excellence in both one's relationship with God and one's actions toward others. It emphasizes sincerity, moral integrity, and striving to do good in every aspect of life.

Eschatology:

Eschatology is a branch of theology concerned with the study of the end times, including the ultimate destiny of humanity, the world, and the universe. In religious contexts, it explores beliefs about death, the afterlife, resurrection, judgment, and the final state of existence. Eschatology often examines the fulfillment of divine plans and prophecies, and its interpretation varies across religions, shaping the understanding of hope, accountability, and the purpose of life.

Surah An Nahl

Allah enjoins justice and goodness and giving to kin and forbids indecency and evil

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:83)

The Three Levels of Faith in Islam: Islam, Iman, and Ihsan

The three levels of faith, Islam, Iman, and Ihsan represent a spiritual journey in Islam, progressing from outward actions to deeper levels of belief and excellence in devotion. These levels are derived from the famous Hadith of Jibril, where the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) explained them as interconnected dimensions of a Muslim's relationship with Allah.

1. Islam: Submission

Islam refers to the foundational level of faith, emphasizing outward actions and adherence to the five pillars of Islam:

1. Shahada – Declaring belief in the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad.

2. Salah(Prayer) – Performing the five daily prayers - Subuh, Zohor, Asar, Maghrib, and Isya'

3. Zakat – Giving a portion of wealth to the needy.

4. Sawm (Fasting) – Observing fasting during Ramadan.

5. Hajj (Pilgrimage) – Undertaking the pilgrimage to Mecca, if physically and financially able.

At this level, a Muslim outwardly submits to Allah by fulfilling the obligations of worship and following Islamic law.

2. Iman: Faith

Iman goes beyond the physical acts of worship and focuses on inner belief and conviction. It is centered on six core articles of faith:

1. Belief in Allah – His existence, oneness, and attributes.

2. Belief in His angels – Spiritual beings who serve Allah.

3. Belief in His books – Including the Quran and previous scriptures.

4. Belief in His messengers – From Adam to Muhammad, the final prophet.

5. Belief in the Day of Judgment – The ultimate accountability and resurrection.

6. Belief in Divine Decree (Qadar) – That everything occurs according to Allah’s will, whether good or bad.

Iman reflects the internalization of faith and builds a strong spiritual connection with Allah. It transcends mere practice, fostering trust and reliance on God.

3. Ihsan: Excellence

Ihsan is the pinnacle of faith, where one strives for perfection in worship and character. It is defined in the Hadith of Jibril as:

"To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, know that He sees you."

This level emphasizes sincerity, mindfulness, and moral excellence in all actions. Ihsan requires believers to act with self-awareness and humility, ensuring their deeds are driven by pure intentions. It extends beyond worship to include interactions with others, promoting compassion, justice, and kindness.

Relationship Between the Three Levels

The journey through Islam, Iman, and Ihsan reflects a holistic approach to faith. While Islam ensures obedience to Allah's commands, Iman deepens belief, and Ihsan perfects the quality of worship and conduct. Together, they create a comprehensive path for spiritual growth, guiding Muslims toward closeness to Allah and fulfillment of their purpose in life.

Ways to Cultivate Faith

Faith is not a static state but a dynamic journey that requires continuous effort and nurturing. Here are three essential ways to cultivate and strengthen faith, aligning with the principles of Islam:

1. Deepen Our Relationship with Allah

The foundation of faith begins with a profound connection to Allah. To deepen this relationship:

- Consistent Worship: Perform obligatory acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, and reciting the Quran with sincerity and mindfulness.

- zikr (Remembrance of Allah): Regularly engage in acts of remembrance, such as saying "SubhanAllah," "Alhamdulillah," and "Allahu Akbar."

- Supplication (Dua): Speak to Allah through heartfelt supplication, seeking His guidance, forgiveness, and blessings.

- Reflect on Allah's Signs: Contemplate the beauty and intricacies of creation, which affirm Allah's presence and attributes.

Deepening our relationship with Allah builds trust and reliance on Him, fostering inner peace and spiritual resilience.

2. Improve Our Behavior and Relationships with Everyone, Especially with Allah

Faith is not only about our relationship with Allah but also about how we treat others. Islam emphasizes good character and social conduct:

- Show Kindness and Compassion: Treat family, friends, neighbors, and strangers with empathy and generosity, reflecting the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

- Fulfill Rights and Avoid Harm: Honor the rights of others, avoid causing harm, and seek forgiveness when mistakes occur.

- Demonstrate Integrity: Be truthful, just, and trustworthy in all interactions.

- Improve Relationship with Allah: Ensure that acts of worship are sincere, avoiding arrogance or hypocrisy, and prioritizing Allah’s pleasure over worldly recognition.

By aligning our outward actions with our inner faith, we embody the true essence of Islam.

3. Strive for Excellence in Every Action

Striving for Ihsan (excellence) means doing everything with sincerity, mindfulness, and the intent to please Allah.

This includes:

- Perfection in Worship: Perform prayers, fasting, and other acts of devotion with concentration and love, as if you see Allah or are aware that He sees you.

- Excellence in Work and Responsibilities: Approach daily tasks, whether at home, work, or school, with diligence and dedication, seeking Allah’s reward for your efforts.

- Moral Excellence: Go beyond the minimum in interactions with others by forgiving, being generous, and avoiding retaliation.

- Self-Improvement: Continuously learn, grow, and strive to improve spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.

Striving for excellence transforms ordinary actions into acts of worship, bringing us closer to Allah and enriching our faith.

Conclusion

Cultivating faith requires a balance between internal devotion and external conduct. By deepening our relationship with Allah, improving our behavior with others, and striving for excellence in all actions, we align our lives with the principles of Islam. This journey strengthens faith, enhances character, and fosters a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment.

In Islam, the concept of a neighbor encompasses more than just the individuals living next door; it extends to anyone within a reasonable distance of one’s home or community. The term “neighbor” is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings and emphasizes social harmony, mutual respect, and responsibility.

Key Aspects of a Neighbor in Islam:

1. Proximity:

A neighbor is generally understood as someone who lives within a certain vicinity of your home. Scholars differ on the exact distance, with some suggesting up to 40 houses in every direction, but the emphasis remains on closeness and community.

2. Rights and Duties:

Islam prescribes specific rights for neighbors, highlighting their importance:

- Kindness and Respect: Treat neighbors with politeness and goodwill, regardless of their faith or background.

 - Helping in Need: Assist them in times of difficulty, such as illness, financial struggles, or emergencies.

 - Avoiding Harm: Ensure that your actions do not cause inconvenience or distress to your neighbors. This includes being considerate about noise, cleanliness, and disputes.

3. Inclusivity:

In Islam, the definition of a neighbor is inclusive of all people, regardless of religion or ethnicity. The teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) stress that neighbors should be treated with fairness and compassion, creating a cohesive and peaceful society.

The Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) emphasized the significance of neighbors in many sayings, such as:

- "Jibril kept advising me about the neighbor to the extent that I thought he would include them as heirs." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)

This hadith highlights the high regard Islam places on the neighbor, almost equating their rights with family members.

- "He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should be kind to his neighbor." (Sahih Muslim)

This stresses that kindness to neighbors is a sign of true faith.

Conclusion

In the Islamic context, a neighbor is not merely someone living nearby but an integral part of a person’s social and spiritual responsibilities. Islam encourages Muslims to cultivate good relationships with neighbors through kindness, support, and care, fostering a sense of community and shared humanity.

Appreciation for nature and the environment

The Islamic faith places profound emphasis on the appreciation, preservation, and responsible stewardship of nature and the environment. This is deeply rooted in the foundational concept of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah), which serves as the basis for a believer's relationship with the Creator, creation, and fellow human beings.

Tawheed and the Unity of Creation

Tawheed establishes the Oneness of Allah as the Creator, Sustainer, and Lord of all that exists. This belief fosters a sense of interconnectedness between humans and the environment. The Qur'an repeatedly reminds believers of the signs (ayat) of Allah in the natural world:

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people, and what Allah has sent down from the heavens of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature, and [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and the earth are signs for a people who use reason.” (Qur'an 2:164)

The Earth as an Amanah (Trust)

Islam teaches that the Earth and its resources are a trust (amanah) given to humanity. Humans are designated as stewards (Khalifah) of the Earth, tasked with preserving its resources and ensuring their sustainable use:

“It is He who has made you successors upon the earth...” (Qur'an 35:39)

This stewardship implies that Muslims must act with wisdom and justice in their interactions with the environment. Exploitation, waste, and harm are seen as betrayals of this trust.

Prohibition of Environmental Damage

Islam explicitly discourages actions that lead to corruption (fasad) or destruction on Earth. The Qur'an warns against spreading mischief that disrupts the natural order:

“And do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.” (Qur'an 2:60)

Environmental degradation, whether through pollution, deforestation, overconsumption, or other harmful practices, contradicts Islamic principles. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) exemplified and advocated for sustainable living. He instructed moderation in resource use, even in acts of worship, such as using water for ablution:

> “Do not waste water, even if you perform your ablution on the banks of an abundantly-flowing river.” (Hadith, Ibn Majah)

Responsibility to Protect Wildlife and Plants

Islam acknowledges the intrinsic value of all living beings. Every creature is viewed as part of Allah’s creation, glorifying Him in its way:

“And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you...” (Qur'an 6:38)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized kindness to animals and plants, forbidding their unnecessary harm. He said:

“If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person, or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (sadaqah) for him.” (Hadith, Bukhari)

In conclusion, Islam’s teachings on nature and the environment are rooted in Tawheed, the recognition of Allah’s Oneness and the interconnectedness of creation. By understanding the Earth as a trust and embracing their role as stewards, Muslims are called to appreciate, protect, and nurture the environment. These principles serve as a guide for fostering harmony with nature and ensuring that future generations inherit a world that reflects the beauty and balance of Allah’s creation.
