This book is about Cally Fisher and her family going through the hardships of the death of Cally’s mother. Cally’s father has been going through a lot because of her death and has been doing things Cally doesn’t like such as packing her mother’s stuff and putting it away. Cally doesn’t know how to cope with this and one day a stray dog comes up to her and she finally has someone that would be there for her. This book fits perfectly in this category because Cally and her family lose their loving mother which leaves them distraught, but a stray dog was able to come into their lives and brighten their lives up. This book holds so much value to this world because it shows us that not only humans can love us unconditionally, but also animals that you care and nurture for.

This story is about a boy and mouse. The mouse wanted a cookie at first, and then kept asking for more and more things from the boy. The boy liked the mouse so much and he thought if he would say no to the mouse, the mouse would leave. So, the boy kept giving more to him. This book represents manipulation and exploitation of friends or family. A lot of our friends use us to get what they want and when we stop providing for them, they will leave. Real friends will stick around no matter what. This book teaches a great life lesson which is choose your friends wisely and do not trust people easily.

This book is about David who keeps doing a lot of naughty things around the house such as drawing on the walls, playing with his food, eating a lot of sugars, etc. At the end, David accidentally breaks a vase and feels very bad about it and then his mother comforts him saying it is okay and that mistakes happen. This book relates to a lot of us as children. We make so many mistakes and learn our lessons from them. But, when we get hurt or sad, our parents will always be there for us. This book shows the importance of family through David and his mother.

The book is about a family that lives in a small town. The family is a pretty big one with two parents and four kids. The biggest focus of this book is on the death of their kid Charlie. This book taught me a very important lesson which is never say no to your family because you never know when you could lose them. This book was so sad because of the circumstances of how the little boy died. This book fits well in this category because it can teach all of us to be more understanding of life. We live everyday, but only die once.

The Snowy Day by: Ezra Jack Keats

This book follows a young boy who finds out it's snowing and goes around the neighborhood to explore it. He runs around in the snow, makes snow angels, makes a snowman, throws snowballs, etc. After he played in the snow, he got home and was freezing cold. His mother made him hot chocolate and drew him a hot bath. He then realized the whole day is already over! He puts on his pajamas and goes to bed. Later, he wakes up and realizes that it was a dream. The little boy runs to the curtains and throws them open and he sees snow outside. He then calls his friends and goes out to play. This book teaches us to love this small things about life. In the book it shows us the young boy having so much joy with just some snow. I think it is so important to love the small things in life because adding up all those small things will leave us with so much joy. I thought this book fit well in this category because it shows us to love the little things in life just like this young boy is doing.

A Ball For Daisy

This book is about a cute dog named Daisy that has a red ball and loves to play with it. She doesn’t go anywhere without it. One day at the park she lost it and her owner did not go back to get her ball. Daisy was really sad without her ball and the owner didn’t know why. The next day, they went to the park again. The dog found another ball which was blue and she loved it. The kids who were playing with the ball gave it to Daisy and she was finally happy again. This book's message is so valuable because it shows that loss happens, but can be replaced with the love of others. Also, this book fits perfectly in the category because Daisy loses her ball that she loved so much, but found another that she learned to love!

The book follows our main character Harriet Hamsterbone. Harriet is not a typical princess in the sense that she is not very formal or royal. She likes to be a rebel and do things her own way. Later on, her parents tell her a dark secret from when she was born. A rat placed a curse on her where she will have a life till 12 years old then prick her finger on a hamster wheel and fall into a deep sleep. This book is important for people to read because it shows that it is not that important where you come from, but what you do with what you are given is what is important. I thought this book fit well in this theme because Harriet was able to love herself and live her life to the fullest.

They then realized if they escaped the pages of the book, they would be able to escape the wolf. Throughout the book the three pigs go through several blank pages running from the wolf and meeting many new creatures. The three pigs resemble a family because they never leave each others' sides. We can learn from this book to always stick together and support our friends.

This book is about a husband and wife that need a plant as the wife is very sick and this plant is the only thing that can cure her. The plant’s name is Rapunzel. This plant is where the “evil” sorceress lives. One day the husband goes to try and steal this plant, but as he is getting the plant, the sorceress catches him. The sorceress blackmails the husband demanding him their child in return for the herb which would save the wife’s life. He accepts the trade and gives up their child. This is how Rapunzel gets stuck in the tower. Years later, a man comes upon the tower thinking there is treasure inside of it. He ends up finding Rapunzel and helps her escape that tower and let her live her life to the fullest in the outside world. They end up falling in love and living happily ever after. Throughout the book, I felt so bad for Rapunzel because she could not live her life to the fullest. Also, through all her hardships and adventure, she was able to find herself and see the importance of life. This book fits perfectly in this category because Rapunzel learned how to love herself and live life to the fullest.

This book is about a pigeon that really wants to drive a bus. The bus driver parks the bus as he needs to use the restroom. While the bus driver was leaving, he said to a passenger “Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus!”. The pigeon begged and begged the bus driver and the passenger never let up. The bus driver was so grateful to the passenger as if the pigeon drove the bus, he would crash it. This book is a great example of standing your ground. If the pigeon drove the bus, the bus would crash and all the passengers would get hurt. So, the passenger stood his ground and did not let the pigeon drive the bus. This fits perfectly into this category because it teaches us to stand our ground and no when right is right and wrong is wrong.

This book is about a boy named Bod whose parents were murdered in his house, but he escaped the killer. Bod loves going to the graveyard and being with the ghosts as he feels safe there because no one dares going to the graveyard. Later on in the story, he makes friends with a girl at school and gets close to her. He also helps the ghost of a witch to finish a potion that the witch could not finish before she died, and he also faced hardships at school with bullies making fun of him because he was an orphan. Throughout the whole book, the murderer that killed his parents has been trying to kill Bod because it was “unfinished business”. This book really taught me how to love life and learn to love myself even though anything could happen at any time. This book fits well in this category because it teaches us that our lives are short, and our lives are so important.

This book is about a little house that was built a long time ago that was surrounded by beautiful grass meadows and forests. The book would go on to show that the area that the little house was in was becoming more urbanized. People built skyscrapers, metro trains, apartment buildings, etc. However, this house stayed put through it all. So many new buildings and things were being built around the house. This book shows how far standing your ground and remembering where you are from can get you. This house went through so much and never gave up to the change around him. This book fits well in life lessons because it shows how we can stand our ground and what it could do for us.
