Since the United States was becoming a major trading nation, many other countries became jealous and target them. Grundy would rather go to war than let other countries take over America's trade. The text quotes Grundy when it says, "Sir, I prefer war to submission." British impressment was also taking away the sailors' freedom.

John Randolph tried to convince the United States not go to war with England. He argued that "the massacre of our brethren on the Wabash had been instigated by the British... given any such information..." showing that the United States would be declaring war based on a hunch. In addition, he also argued that the reason why the Natives attacked was because of the United States's greed for more land. They pushed the Natives off their land and destroyed their homes, which was the only cause for retaliation. In conclusion, John Randolph tried to convince that the United States shouldn't declare war on Britain because there is no evidence pointing at them for the attacks that were caused by our greed for land.

The reason for him supporting war is because he argues that the British were getting jealous of America because America was becoming a major trading country. He also argued that the trading of the United States was getting disturbed because the British were capturing American sailors and ships, with no evidence of contraband. Along with claiming that they were kidnapping American ships, he said that the British were forcing American sailors to work on British ship, violating their freedom. Felix Grudy also stated "Sir, I prefer war to submission." proving further more that he supported war over getting their rights stolen.

However, Canada would also reduce the Native American hostility and hurt the British's pride.

Henry Clay wanted the United States to go to war with Great Britain and believed that conquering Canada would be a major blow to them. He argued that taking Canada was possible and would weaken Britain. Also, he believed that capturing Canada would stop the British support of Native American attacks on American settlers, which he described as “savage warfare.” In addition, he thought the U.S. would benefit economically by gaining control of the fur trade and preventing illegal trade that hurt American laws and revenue.

He criticized other members of Congress for blaming Britain and pushing for war without proof. Randolph believed the true cause of the conflict was the United States’ desire for more land, which forced Native Americans into desperation. He warned that American expansion, not foreign influence, led to the violence and urged Congress to reconsider going to war.

He also believed that it was unfair that the native lands were being ruined for our selfish wants. "It was our own thirst for territory, our own want for moderation, that had driven these sons of nature to desperation, of which we felt the effects..." - John Randolph. He states that the only reason the natives attacked was because they were provoked and driven to desperate measures. John was certain that the natives were not attacking out of ill intent, but instead they were attacking because us as Americans originally had driven them out of their lands. Also, that we had ruined their lands, and the natives were simply upset that we had destroyed their nature, and homes.

Congressman John Randolph opposed the war because he believed the United States, not Britain, was responsible for the conflict with Native Americans. He questioned the evidence linking Britain to Native attacks and argued that American expansionism was the real problem. As he stated, "It was our own thirst for territory, our own want of moderation, that had driven these sons of nature to desperation, of which we felt the effects..." This shows that Randolph thought the attacks were a direct result of U.S actions, our desire for more land and lack of restraint rather than British provocations, which is why he strongly argued against going to war.

Congressman John Randolph pointed out that nothing could support the claim that the attacks were caused by the actions of the British. Randolph was protesting the actions of the Congressman who placed the blame for the attacks on the British and advocated going to war without any proof of these accusations being true. Randolph rather believed that the cause of the attacks could easily be found in the United States' need for additional territory, as the result of which the Native Americans were forced off their land and left nothing but desperate people behind.

In this excerpt, Felix Grundy is urging Congress to go to war. He claims that "Great Britain has intercourse with those Northern Tribes [in reference to Native Americans]" and that Great Britain is turning "their [Native Americans] peaceful disposition towards us into hostiles." In other words, Felix Grundy believed that if they went to war with Britain and were successful, they could drive the British off the continent and in turn stop the Native American attacks. In Grundy's mind, the British were bribing the natives to attack the American settlers which is a point he makes clear in this speech.

They were also forcing U.S sailors to join and work on their ships. Grundy said that this was due to the fact that Britain was jealous and scared of America's rising power. He said that the U.S shouldn't allow America's trade to be controlled by Britain, so they should go to war instead of letting this happen. He said "For my part I am not prepared to say this country shall submit to have the commerce interdicted or regulated, by any foreign nation.

This source is supporting going to war with Great Britain. Grundy makes it clear that he believes Britain is treating the United States unfairly and violating its rights. He explains that British courts are capturing and condemning American ships even when they are not carrying “contraband of war,” which hurts American trade and the nation’s economy. He also says that Britain is trying to control American commerce, which he believes no foreign country has the right to do. Grundy strongly supports war when he states, “I prefer war to submission,” showing that he would rather fight than allow Britain to limit American independence. He also brings up the issue of impressment, calling it an “unjust and lawless invasion of personal liberty,” because British forces were forcing American sailors to work on British ships. Overall, Grundy argues that war is necessary to protect American rights, freedom, and national honor.

Congressman John Randolph’s speech from December 9, 1811 shows that he disagreed with claims that Britain was responsible for Native American attacks on U.S. settlers. Speaking during rising tensions before the War of 1812, Randolph questioned whether there was any real evidence from the President or government officials to support this accusation and called it exaggerated. He believed instead that the United States was to blame because Americans continued to take Native American land after treaties like the Treaty of Greenville, which pushed Native tribes into desperation and resistance. Randolph’s purpose was to warn Congress not to rush into war with Britain and to recognize that U.S. expansion and lack of moderation had caused the conflict with Native Americans.

John Randolph believed the US should not go to war since they would need more land, which would cause them to expand into the Native Americans territory's causing them to fight back. In the text it states “It was our own thirst for territory, our own want of moderation, that had driven these sons of nature to desperation, of which we felt the effects…” This shows Randolph saying the U.S. wanted expansion and provoking Native Americans to fight back.

Felix Grundy supported the war. He believed that Britain was bribing the Native Americans to attack the United States. He thought America would have gain many advantages if they won the war, like running Britain out of North America so they will no longer influence the Native Americans. "We shall drive the British from our Continent- they will no longer have an opportunity of intriguing with our Indian neighbors, and settling on the ruthless savage to tomahawk our women and children,"

John Randolph opposed the U.S. going to war. He said that "the massacre of our brethren on the Wabash had been instigated by the British" what he means is that we have no real evidence the British are behind the attacks. Also he said that the reason the Natives attacked us is because we stole their land and destroyed their lives and homes and they are attacking us for revenge.
