Owen De Koyer. In my opinion I think Romeo believes that banishment is worse than death for many reasons. First off if he gets banished from Verona he will be losing many things. To continue, he will be losing his favorite person. Juliet. Without Juliet Romeo seems to b nothing. He can't live without her. If he can't have Juliet he prefers death. This is selfish of him but also shows the affection he has for Juliet. If he leaves Verona he will also be losing all of the Montagues. This is why Romeo would prefer Death over Banishment.

Romeo thinks that banishment is worse than death. His idea of banishment is horror and something far worse than pain. In his words, he would rather die a gruesome death than be banished. Even though Romeo is very over dramatic, he states the horrors of banishment that no man should ever face. Living without your loved ones and being forced out of your own home is something that is terrible to even imagine. Being alone away from your home is hard, even for someone that age. Romeo's opinion of banishment makes people feel bad for him or make people think he is over dramatic.

In act 3 scene 2, Romeo finds out that his life is spared. Although, he is banished from his community Verona and can never return. This could be worse for Romeo because his community is all he has. Family, Friends, Wife, you name it. This means Romeo won't be able to come back to see his love of his life Juliet. Next, according to Romeo's body language and words it sounds like he doesn't wanna go. For example, he hid in Friar's office. asked if she was okay, and even wondered if she thinks he's a killer and doesn't wanna be with him anymore. Therefore, Romeo really loves this girl and wants to stay in Verona.

In Act 3, Scene 3 of Romeo and Juliet Romeo is banished from Verona never to be scene again. This is caused by the death of Tybalt. When Friar Lawrence informs Romeo about his banishment Romeo says "Ha, banishment? Be merciful and say “death.” Exile is much worse than death. Don’t say “banishment.” By this, Romeo means that banishment is is even worse than death itself. He says this because he will not with Juliet. Being banished seems like a bad thing but when he puts it in that way, Romeo seems like a very dramatic person. Even though many people would prefer banishment over death, to Romeo it probably seems like the worst thing that could happen to him. -amaya
