Rising Action: George was toying with the vague notion that maybe dancers shouldn't be handicapped. But he didn't get very far with it before another noise in his ear radio scattered his thoughts. 

"right." said George. He began to think glimmeringly about his abnormal son who was now in jail, about Harrison, but a twenty-one-gun salute in his head stopped that." 

"Harrison Begeron, age fourteen, [...] is under-handicapped, and should be regarded as extremely dangerous."

The main tool of the story, "Force" is everywhere, and is everything. Which explains the story transitions between the characters and places the story leads towards.

'Chapter 1: The Vanishing of Will Byers'

Exposition: A laboratory in Hawkins, some kind of monster escapes, and killed most of the lab workers.

Inciting Incident: Will separates from his friends and finds himself close to the laboratory when he thinks something is following him. When he gets home, he noticed that his mother and brother aren't home. Feeling that something is still after him, Will runs to a shed behind the house, arms himself with a gun. None of that helps. The lights start to flicker, and Will is gone.

Rising Action: The Protagonist, Will Byers and his friends Mike, Dustin, and Lucas are playing an game. Mike's mom calls for dinner, and Will, Dustin, and Lucas hop on their bikes and go home.

A young girl named Eleven is running away from something. Her head is shaved, and she's wearing a hospital gown, she has limited speech, and she's hungry.

Climax: Benny, feeds Eleven and calls the social workers to come and pick her up. But it ends up agents arriving, trying to take Eleven away. The agents kill Benny, but Eleven fights off the agents and escapes using her special power

Falling Action: Will's friends get tired of waiting for the police to find Will. They decide to search for him on their own. And then, they meet the girl, "Eleven"

Resolution: Joyce, Will's mother, gets a phone call.
