I started the day by finishing my proposal documents which consist of my mind map which is where all my initial ideas were jotted down, also I took the time to develop in detail my main idea onto a annotated mood board. Using the mood board I went round to some student in the open plan who didn’t know anything about my idea and I asked them what there inference was from looking at my mood board and all the answers were similar and where what I wanted to hear because they had understood my idea.  After this I started to create a document, which I wrote about what I’ve gained from, started the course and how I’m going to use it in my project. At the end of the day when all this was complete it was time form the pitch, for some reason I went camera shy and I didn’t want to do it but then I started and I was absolutely fine. So there were 5 or 6 different narratives, which also had a piece of equipment on, which had to be used during the filming. So out of hat we picked, and we picked the storyline of teenage pressure. This is a fairly easy topic due to the fact everyone in the group are teenagers and of course we have all experienced some sort of pressure in the past. So we sat around a table and this where we had a problem because everyone had different ideas and we couldn’t decide which one to pick until I though of the idea to do something surrounding the ‘boys and girls cant be friends’ topic. So we used the college campus to record because it’s a relevant place for us to be so once we completed we went back to class where Dave was doing tutorial of premiere pro. This helped me massively because I have never used premier pro as a platform for editing and I’m not that competent in editing anyway. So we then went off and used what we had just learned to create a small film/ trailer from the footage we had. Instead I will be looking into the industry professionals of my idea so I can see what techniques and skills they have which I might be able to take on board and use it in my own work. So the research started by looking at presenters of similar topic which I scars of course and the first thing that came to mind was top gear, also in m y opinion top gear has some of the most talented and skilled presenters in modern day television. Also I took the time at home to research a vlogger who I found on YouTube who creates videos about cars and is very good with his technique and skills so I don’t some research into him as well. The market for what I would like to do is very wide but I haven’t yet found anything that is the same, which means my idea will have a unique selling point. Some problems that I have faced when looking into research is that I didn’t know who to use for my industry professionals because I wasn’t sure to base it on website designers or presenters, I over came this by underlining that the video content is the main source on the website so I decided to use presenters as research. Today I leant how to change the shutter speed, aperture and ISO on the DSLR, these small but very significant things will help me when I come to use the camera for future projects. Some problems that I faced today were the time in which we were given as groups of 5 to go and shot 3 shots each. The problem we had some people wanted to be in different places to others and this was time consuming getting to all the different places. Unfortunately when going to the library I couldn't find many sources in terms of hard evidence instead of using the Internet. However I have a magazine at home that will be very useful and I will complete the set task at home later. After coming back from lunch I found a magazine of Top Gear, which I downloaded and began to create a research portfolio on it, which I will complete at home also. I wouldn't say that I have improved or gained any skills in terms of my secondary research and the reason behind this is because I didn't get the chance to find the right source to start looking into depth with. The later part of the day consisted of a pad let diary entry workshop where I learned how to write the merit/ distinction diaries. I say this because I completed my daily target and much more. Today’s main tasks were to go out and get a wide range of primary research. This task consists of going and getting 1:1 interviews, Vox pops and focus groups. I completed all of the following however I feel that I could’ve pushed myself to get more vox pops. Not getting that many vox pops isn’t a major issues, as I don’t feel they are very effective method of primary research. The other two research methods however are going to help greatly with the completion of my project, getting the publics opinion on my idea and getting ideas from them helped greatly. Not being very confident when approaching strangers I feel that I had to over come this today and would say I have gained a lot more confidence and will use this is other research tasks and feedback groups in the future. Skills that I have developed today are my concentration skills, today I stayed focused and got the work done so that I can get started on production tomorrow. So the work that I completed to day was a production schedule, this helps my to stay on task and on time which all the work. So it’s a day-by-day log, which tells me the target I would like to have completed by the end of the day. Also I completed a risk assessment, this was a problem for me because I didn’t see the risks until I asked a tutor and they explain some of the most bizarre possibilities but they are still possibly so they are the risk that incorporated. So today the paper work that I got done was my location visit sheet and my equipment-booking log. These are two very important pieces of paperwork because the location visit sheet allows me to get an understanding of the location I will be shooting at before I get there. While doing the location sheet I did email Porlock manor estate explaining to them that I’m a student looking to film in the area and I didn’t receive anything back, which I assumed, meant I was able to use the location. The equipment booking sheet is a very useful piece of paperwork also because its easier for out technician to know what we want and when we want it so they can make a log of when we have it. Today I wouldn’t say that I experienced any problem other then not receiving and email back. So I started putting little bits in place such as titles and getting the page layout ready before I got to the stage of inserting videos and picture. I was then notified that I needed to create a storyboard for my video idea. This was a problem that I faced because I was told that I didn’t need one then at the last minute I was informed that I did in fact need a storyboard. The reason this was a problem was because I didn’t add time in my schedule for this meaning that I didn’t really have the time to do it. So I put my head down and concentrated on the work and got the storyboard done and out of the way. So after completing the storyboard I went and got my signature on the equipment-booking sheet and took the relevant equipment. I got the background music and the final edit done. This has helped me out getting it done early, because I have been able gain some feedback of peers in terms of my video. The feedback that I have is very mixed, one said they have no interest I cars but really did enjoy the video because of the way it cuts to all the different shot, but on the other hand the other person I asked said they also have no interest in cars but they had a mixed reaction to video. They said they enjoyed the video due to the shots and the flow but they said due to the length of the video some people might get bored. Unfortunately today I was told that I need to create a few more shorter videos to help the audience because I haven’t captured the main focus of my pitch in my initial video. So over the weekend I will look to create a few small videos showing a little bit more about young drivers. Today I would say the only problem that I faced was being told that some more videos will be better, I know the tutors are helping me by saying some more videos will look better however it does knock my confidence thinking if I don’t manage to create these videos I will be in a bad position in terms of my grade. There was too much noise in the open plan for me to concentrate, and my tutor noticed this and said I could go home and use the time to get my evaluation started and that exactly what I done. I got home and all of a sudden I was ready and motivated to work, so I sat down and wrote the majority of my evaluation which put me ahead for tomorrow which is when other people are starting.
