         <description><![CDATA[<p>There can be many different reasons for the gap in pay depending on age groups. The common trend is that the younger an employee is, the lower their wage will be. This is why some firms (e.g. McDonalds) tend to hire younger staff with the same productivity levels as an older worker, as the firms pay them a lower minimum wage.</p><p><br></p><p>Over the past 20 years, the average working age has risen by 3.3 years (40.2 - 43.5) from 2002 to 2021</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Australia’s national gender pay gap is<strong> 12 per cent.</strong></p><p>As of November 2023, the full-time adult average weekly ordinary time earnings across all industries and occupations was <strong>$1982.80 for men</strong> and <strong>$1744.80 for women</strong>.</p><p>For every dollar on average men earned, women earned 88 cents. That's $238 less than men each week.</p><p>Over the course of a year, this difference adds up to $12,376.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>As wage rises in male-dominated industries such as transport outpaced those for nurses and teachers.</p><p>Men employed by the state government had a median salary 6.2 per cent – or $6205 – higher than the median salary for women, according to data tabled in state parliament this month.</p><p>The median salary for women in the public sector increased by 2.5 per cent to $94,568 between 2022 and 2023, only to be outpaced by male colleagues, whose median salary increased by 4.4 per cent to $100,773.</p>]]></description>
