Mostly, childen was attract by toys. The things that may move and come out with sound will easily grab their attention. By using Lego NXT RR robot we can show them what we want to teach by make the robot move or came out with sound. For example, make the robot move to show them the direction turn left or right, move forward or backward and others. Beside that, children also have a change to create a new robot based on their creativity. Lego NXT RR robot could grab attention from children so that they can focus and listen on what you trying to teach them, on the other hand, they will also have a chance to show their creativity. After create a robot, they have to learn the programming in how to make it work (move). If they have experience in make a robot, they may create the other things that may bring benefit to the society in the future.

As we know children like to play and have fun all the time. If possible they want to play all day long. I want to educate the children about recycle. As we know, we can design many types of robot as we wish so here i will educate them to design and program the robot. I will design one map about recycling. The map containing the right colour of recycling bin. So by using colour sensor the robot will put the object with the same colour at the right place. Other than that that we also can teach the children about gravity. The idea here is to design robot that can climb vertically and we can named it vertical limit. They will start to think how weight and height can affect the gravity, so they will design the robot as light as they can and minimize the design so that the robot can climb the vertical poll faster. The main purpose of that is to educate them and to see the creativity in them. Thank You

In my opinion, young children are normally drawn to colourful toys such as legos. Thus, children will easily love to play with NXT robots because it’s basically legos with a twist since it’s programmable and fully functional. It would be a great activity for both parents and their children because parents can do the programming part easily with all the instructions that comes along with the programs while the children could have so much fun building a lego robot from its base. This will also instil a lot of good values in children. With the NXT robots, children are exposed to early knowledge about robots and their uses. This will be a great way to learn about robots since children will be able to play and learn at the same time. Other than that, NXT robots can open up the world of early math, science and language skills for young children. As their skills increase, parents can even teach their children simple programming so that children will be more involved in learning more about robots and their function. At the same time, early exposure of the NXT robots can help young children to increase their ability to discover and investigate which helps them to develop social and emotional skills that will be very helpful in their future.

Lego NXT robots teaches young children the essential teamwork skills. The STEM skills that robotics teach are great for inspiring tomorrow’s engineers. Some of the teamwork skills they learn through robotics are ones they will use for the rest of their life. When kids work in groups on a project with a robot, they quickly see that technical skills,
such as coding, are essential. However, their robot won’t move if they don’t know how to collaborate with others and communicate their ideas. Through robotics, kids learn how to
express themselves and listen and relate to others— honing valuable life skills. Through robotics, kids can learn more than just how to code. Kids can learn skills in leadership, community involvement, communicating across various technology platforms, finding their passions, teamwork, which will position them for achievement well beyond their school years. And the second is robotics can be a launching pad for kids to realise their passions. By going through the procedure of creating a robot, kids explore many different learning
pathways. It’s amazing to watch kids’ passions grow in subjects that they never knew they would love. You can view these kids build their learning pathways because robotics gives kids an open platform where kids can decide where to go with their experiments. Next is a strong robotics curriculum can create leaders. When kids interact with robots and make them perform various motions and tasks, your kids’ different strengths will start to shine. When assembling robots in teams, some kids are great at speaking and can verbally bring ideas to life. On the flipside, some kids may not be as vocal, but they lead behind the scenes: they code, perform technical tasks and makes sure the team stays on task.

So why not they learn about NXT robotics? We need to reassuring them about how much fun to learn NXT robots. Firstly, i will explain what NXT robots can do like moving forward, backward, turn left and right. Also, it can sense and detect light or any obstacles. NXT robots also can play a ball or lift up something. With a simple add and drop programming surely the children can easily understand. Further, NXT robots can output a sound and display some short message form the screen. In conclusion, the children can learn more about NXT robots and it will improve their creativity and mind when they program the robots.

Not necessarily. Depends on the age level, aptitude, social nature, and interests of the kid in question.

LEGO Mindstorm kits are great, and if you want the child to have a *structured, play-oriented, individual* intro to robotics, they're as good a structured kit as there is. But LEGOs have lots of mechanical limitations, as any of us who has played with them knows, and those limitations can put a real damper on what you can do with them (try making a LEGO helicopter, for instance). And they don't teach how to use tools, how electricity works, or how different materials, fasteners, or adhesives can make or break a robot. In short, while they encourage out-of-the-box thinking, you can't go all that far out of the box.

Other potential avenues are through participation in a school robotics club - which might use a LEGO kit, but then again might not. A lot of FIRST Robotics competitions aren't LEGO based. Having a club for support means the child has a social network to encourage him/her and other students who can help with aspects of the project that might frustrate a child left to his/her own devices. Social networks of other kids who are interested in the same thing can be just as important as interest in the thing itself, especially for girls but for boys too. And robotics being the radically cross disciplinary field that it is, being involved in the team aspect of robotics design can only be a good thing. Also, FIRST Robotics competitions often do involve use of hand tools, different materials, and so on. The restrictions of the platform aren't as strong and hence the size of the box is a lot larger.

Another avenue is through one of the many packaged robotics kits. These have the singular advantage over LEGOs of teaching how to use tools, work metal, plastic, and wood, and possibly assemble and debug simple electronic circuits. Whether any of these are appropriate for the child depends on the age, of course, but I brought a "racing robot ball" kit back from Japan for my six year old, and we ended up with an RC robot that could outrun the family dog over wood floors. Something probably not possible with LEGO, and that for sheer eye-opening coolness could not be beat.

Finally, there are the old standbys: RC cars, airplanes, boats, and helicopters. Depending on the child, interest in flying, racing, or swimming things may be the most important factor (it was for me-I started out wanting to build things that flew). And with modern robotic systems becoming as specialized as they are, being able to build and fly an RC helicopter or airplane (also known, these days, as UAVs) is quite a rare and marketable skill, as well as being a potential lifelong hobby.

It depends on the age and interest of the young children. In my opinion, we first need to have the NXT robots as a way to gain their interest. Start it with something interesting where we demonstrate how a robot can do task we programmed in them. Since robot is a hands on material, let the young children build the robot with the tools provided and prepared the right method so they do it correctly. Young children love something colourful, hence NXT robot is a material where it can create a good bonding between children with parents or teachers. At the same time, it is a good exposure for the children to increase their hands on skill, develop knowledge and discover to something creative. Part of the robot building involves mechanical techniques where how the lego pieces fit together and work efficiently. Besides playing, children actually took part in technology and engage in passive participation. It may take a little time to build, but the result is something worth it because the NXT robot do follow the commands based how we programmed them. It is fun!

Hi everyone,

In my opinion, there are many things that we can teach young children by using lego NXT robots. Firstly, we have to define how the NXT robot works. Since lego is something colourful, it will automatically attract children to play and gain their interest. A part of building the robot, it involves the young children creativity skills. At the same time, I can also teach them about programming and how the robot follow the command based on the programming that has been created in the robot. As an example, the movement of the robot (forward, reverse, curve turns). Besides, young children are also slowly exposed to coding and programming. It gets difficult at first try but the result will make the children amaze and enjoy. Building a robot creates a good bonding and team work among players. For an example, when a task is given it require them to communicate and creative thinking. Furthermore, kids can learn mechanical techniques that also involves in technology. A time that spent when building the robot is actually learning about design and structures. Lastly, science and mathematics took the biggest part in this like how the robot rotates the wheels based to the requested distance.

Hi everyone,
Popular interest in robotics has increased significantly over the last years. It has been claimed that robotics can provide new benefits to the learning process at all levels of education. The main ideas of the present study adhered to the constructionist theory, according to which the learning process is not only transmitted from teacher to pupil, but rather constructed in the mind of the pupil in the form of active learning. The purpose of the present study was to implement a robotic toy (Lego Mindstorms NXT TM) in a Greek primary school, in order to teach twelve year-old children some of the basic concepts of geometry. We can also teach children about mechanics. The most essential part in NXT, besides the brain, is the motor. They can learn a little bit about mechanics as Lego NXT will be using gears. I think I have stated the most important things for me. I hope I can teach my future students about NXT as this toy, or this machine can spark the interest in the students for mechanics.

Furthermore, they will open their mind more and have more than one way to solve a problem. Critical thinking often fosters a clear head, the ability to save time, the confidence to make decisions, and the skills needed to see beyond personal bias. So, this mixture of ability and confidence can benefit them throughout life.

There’s no better way to inspire children, and introduce them the several key programming concepts, than Lego Mind storms, which lets them build a robot from Lego and program it too. First, show the young children all component that have in Lego. We can teach the young children to use time table in box component. Then, ask them to check all component in box. They must make sure all component in box have same amount in the time table. The component must have sufficient to ensure that robot can be completed . When all component done to check we can shows they how to build Lego step by step follow the interaction in application was install. We can teach the young children how to create simple form of robot. This is because they are young to learn the complicated one. When they know and understand the basic form of Lego we can open their mind to create some creative form of Lego. From that, they can build the own Lego by their inspiration and creativity.

Assalamualaikum and good evening everyone...

Lego NXT robots are programmable robotics , we can teach the kids about coding and logical reasoning in school for years . The beauty of the platform is that it is graphically based , whereby you can "drag and drop" images into a programming sequence on your screen that actual represent snippets of code that control the robot . Student intuitively understand it can very quickly have their robot moving and sensing it's environment without the need to learn the back and code that powers it . We also can introduce Lego Mindstorms to the kids in a class for instance . Rather , it is far better for the kids to get up and going quickly by briefly showing them the basics differences between the different motor block functions and setting them a movement task . This way the kids can learn their own way by trial and error . It can be interesting watching kids come to grips with the different motor block available . When the kids gain confidence in using the Lego robot's basic motor and sensor functions , they can begin to learn how to get more control out of their robot using the loop and switching functions .That's all from me..Thank you .

Lego NXT robot is the most popular and commonly used robotics set for educational. Teacher can use this lego NXT to increase some skills of the children such as discovery learning, critical thinking and social skills. For example, student need to think on how to set up the robot itself. Surely they have the guidelines on the screen, but they still need to critical thinking to set up the robot. As we all know, students need to learn about basic coding and programming, this method will expose them to become more creative. Besides, this lego NXT robot will teach the students on how to be creative on their own because they can upgrade their robot to move, talk or did some creative movement.

Prior to using the NXT Robots with the students, a basic framework was written (using Java) to hide the complexities of the code necessary to drive the robot and interact with its motors and sensors. This was based around the use of the BlueJ Java programming environment (BlueJ, (2009), BlueJ — The interactive Java environment, using an additional plug-in to provide facilities to connect and download files to the robot directly from the development environment ,BowesD, (2009), Lejos NXJ extension for BlueJ,. The standard robot firmware was replaced with the LeJOS firmware LeJOS, (2009), Java for LEGO Mindstorms, providing a set of Java classes which could be utilised in order for programs to be written which could be downloaded and run directly on the robot itself.

The additional framework written specifically for the module provided a wrapper around the more complex functionality required and hid the event-handling code (which was beyond the scope of what was covered in the module) within a utility class which could be incorporated into a BlueJ project and accessed via simple method calls. This framework meant that the students could be provided with an initial template from which to develop their own programs and some simple instructions on how to incorporate specific robot commands. A series of robot programs were devised and mapped onto particular module content as listed below:

RobotWalk (basic motion and conditional statements): Robot is moved by pressing the touch sensor and stopped by releasing it. Buttons on the control panel itself determine whether the robot moves forward or backward.

Coward (loop statements): Robot moves forwards continuously poling the ultrasonic sensor. When it senses an object within 10cm that it may crash into it reverses and turns away.

Defender (loop statements and methods): Robot rotates, continually poling the ultrasonic sensor for an object within 10cm. When an object is detected it moves quickly forwards, pushing the object out of range and then returns to its starting point (i.e. defends its territory!).

Reverser (arrays and random numbers): Robot moves in a series of steps at random speed, direction and distance. The movement is stored so that, once complete, the robot can retrace its steps and return to the starting point.

FileReverser (file handling): As for Reverser but with actions being stored in a file. [This challenge was abandoned prior to showing it to the students due to difficulties in implementing file handling on the robot and the requirement for code structures not covered in the module].

The module ran twice during the 2008/9 academic year for two different cohorts of students. The first cohort (L1 Term 2) consisted of 56 students from BSc Computing and BSc Network Computing; the second cohort (L1 Term 3) consisted of 16 students, primarily from BSc Forensic Computing; with Joint Honours students attending whichever cohort fit best into their timetable.

What can you teach young children using LEGO NXT robots?

You children can benefit from learning how to solve problems with NXT robots. LEGO products are mostly aimed at children so they can learn how to solve mechanical problems such as building models and miniature machines. However, NXT robots have the extra perk of teaching how to solve programming problems by debugging their robot's programming.

Today the technology is everything. The technologies could made us know everything. By using the LEGO NXT robot, the young student can learn on how to programming the robot. it's could improved their creativity, cooperated and critical thinking. The learn about robot is early knowledge about robot. It's a basic high tech before they move toward modern world. Noways robot is everything so the early learning about robot is important for young students. Besides, children like to play robot, so easy to attracted them to involved in robotic designer. Other than that it could open up the world of early math, science and language skill among of them and can created a leader to cooperated with members and world.

1) Johnny Fong Qui Yong D20171079051 (C)
2)Lego NXT robots are programmable robotics , we can teach the kids about coding and logical reasoning in school for years .

To be honest, the best source of knowledge is often the youngsters themselves. Once they're truly engaged we will find them researching ideas to plugin into their code to solve problems and will only be too happy to share their knowledge. This is fantastic as it is this kind of self-directed learning and collaborative culture that you want to encourage in your classroom in the first place! Soon we can find that the participating children will be very willing to try more and more difficult activities and filled with creative thought and critical thinking.
