What interests me most about the topic of equity and equality is that in the land of the free not everyone has the freedom to acquire the best education, earn a comfortable salary, and live in peace without suffering some type of discrimination because of their differences. The 14th Amendment provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. In today's society it is interesting how United States citizens are taking a stance towards equity and equality whether it is taking a knee, women's rights, LGBT rights, special needs, health care, the right to choose an abortion, and/or the right to say no to vaccines. Although there is much resistance due to personal fears, this is the decade that will begin to introduce equity and equality for all.
